Boston U. (business management)
I have joined this site to help tutor anyone, at any age, that is passionate about writing for film, television, theatre, or the web. My credentials (as posted in resume) are that I have written over 25 screenplays; some were optioned, two were produced, and one I produced myself. I've written countless treatments, story outlines, and proposals for attracting financial backers for a film project. I also had the great opportunity of working with some Academy Award winning writers and learned a lot in the process.
I always have an introductory conversation with a potential student to find out what exactly are his or her goals. Of course this initial conversation is also an opportunity for the student to get to know me and decide if he or she would like to learn with me. We will discuss the actual assignment you want to achieve and then we will mutually decide on a course of activities with a timeline to achieve this goal. This is at no cost to the student unless there is travel time.
Besides tutoring screenwriters, my experience working with students is quite varied. I have been an English as Second Language Teacher (ESL) for over two years, teaching predominately Asian and South American adults. I also worked as a substitute teacher and a student teacher while I attended Cal State L.A. to receive my multi-subject teaching credential for grades 1-8. However, teaching and/or guiding someone to write a screenplay or script is quite different from teaching academic courses.
In addition to completing their script, I also teach them about what are the next steps they must take for selling their script, getting representation, or even attempting to produce the project on their own. The market place has changed considerably with the change from using film to video. Regarding selling and distributing their work, the internet has created many new avenues to explore.
Whether we work together or not, I wish you luck with all your artistic goals. I have joined this site to help tutor anyone, at any age, that is passionate about writing for film, television, theatre, or the web. My credentials (as posted in resume) are that I
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I personally have played basketball since I was 6 years old. I played for my high school basketball team for 3 four years and was high scorer of the JV team in my Freshman year.
I have coached for the PAL (Police Athletic League) for over 4 years and for an after-school program in Los Angeles, CA for 2 years. I have a passion for the game and help players with the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and defense.
I have been a screenwriter for over 25 years, have had two films produced and many screenplays bought or optioned by producers. I have also tutored students in screenwriting as well as have a teaching certificate in CA.
