I believe that every student is capable of learning. My goal is to allow them to reach their maximum potential by getting them interested in the subject, making them think, and teaching them in the style most comfortable for them. Some people are visual learners, so for those a picture may be worth a thousand words, some are auditory, for whom the explanation is most important, and some learn by doing. I apply my vast experience to teaching an individual person and adapting to that person's learning style. I have been tutoring students for over 20 years, from elementary to high school age, and I have always been able to help them become comfortable, confident, and knowledgeable in the subjects that I teach.
I have been educated in the top schools, have achieved great results, and I am committed to helping others do the same! I have a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, where I achieved a GPA of 4.0 and received an award for being the best in my class. I have been employed as a computer science professional, and have worked in the industry's top institutions. Moreover, I am certified to teach mathematics and computer science K-12.
Along with the disciplines that I am teaching, I also teach study skills, time management and organization, because I believe that if you have a disorganized mixture of study materials, you have a disorganized picture in your brain. If you have an orderly picture of the material in your brain, you will understand the material, otherwise you will not.
It is important to build from the bottom. I go deep into the student's knowledge and find out whether they have all the necessary building blocks first, and then I try to build up their knowledge. If you don't have a good foundation, you cannot build upon it.
Lastly, I try to interest the student in the subject. If you have interest, then you will want to achieve results yourself rather than someone pushing you to achieve them, and in the end you will be rewarded by having the best grades and fulfilling your dreams. For anyone who is looking for a great tutor, I can vouch for her impressive and incredible teaching expertise.
Great tutor, very punctual, knowledgeable- we were happy with her. My son was able to learn concepts of pre algebra and become better with her help.
We are happy to recommend her and might reach out to her for future math tutoring needs.
Fanit is skilled, professional and excellent tutor. She was very helpful for our son. She was patient. She helped prepare him for his tests and she helped him learn the subject material. My son thought she was excellent. We will continue to use Fanit and we wold recommend her to others.
Fanit was very helpful resource for my child who had questions regarding his Introduction to Computer Science class for college.
I was happily surprised she was available for his assistance on short notice!
Thank you Fanit for helping us out in a bind!
So pleased with Fanit. She has been working with my daughter on a demanding pre-calc curriculum, and has helped her get from a B+ to an A, working together about 90 minutes a week. She is excellent.
I have to make this review for all the struggling "computer wizards" out there. Fanit helped me get through some of the most basic to difficult tasks in programming. I would highly recommend her! I don't usually give reviews but I'm extremely
pleased with how much I've learned. Fanit is patient when she teaches and is a good listener. I had several issue's that she sat down and explained in terms I can understand for example in "java." I am currently enrolled in a local college to receive my degree in Computer Science.
Fanit is a teacher who can blend deep content knowledge in math with the ability to connect with the students. Fanit encouraged my son to focus on whether or not he was learning everything within his potential and helped him gain confidence. As a result, my son achieved excellent results in a very short period of time.
Fanit is skilled, professional and excellent tutor. She committed to help my son to achieve his goals, she prepared individualize lessons to my son's specific needs. He is an A+ student now. I appreciate her help and would recommend Fanit to anyone seeking help with mathematics.
Fanit was very helpful in helping me prepare for and excel on my in-class test. Computer science is not always the easiest subject to explain; Fanit was able to help me understand the material in a simple and effective manner. I am very grateful for her help and would recommend to anyone seeking help with programming or computer science.
My daughter met with Fanit yesterday for the first time. She responded immediately to the request and accommodated us on very short notice. I wasn't present for the session, but my daughter has informed me that she felt confident about how she performed on the test today. So mission accomplished!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The ACT test includes math up to algebra and geometry, both of which I have been tutoring for a long time. I can help with the material covered on the tests as well as test taking strategies which will result in a top score. I have successfully tutored many students who went on to be admitted to great colleges, because they scored high on the entrance exams.
Algebra 1 is the first level of mathematics where it is critical to develop higher level thinking. Through problems that go from easy to more difficult a student can gain confidence and better understanding. My goal is for the student to have mastered all the concepts of Algebra 1 before moving on to Algebra 2.
Algebra 2 builds upon the foundation of Algebra 1 and requires even more rigor because problems become multi-step. My goal is to explain the material in detail and then provide lots of practice problems to solidify the student's knowledge. It is important to go at the student's own pace in this subject because thorough understanding is key.
Calculus was the first subject that I ever tutored. This high level subject requires thorough understanding and careful implementation. I can provide explanations and practice problems for the student to gain understanding of calculus.
I have extensive experience working for several companies for more than 10 years as a computer programmer in Java and C#. As part of my Master's I had to take Programming Languages, Algorithms, Compilers, Java Programming Language, Object Oriented Programming and many other courses. I have been successfully tutoring students in programming for many years. I have a Master's Degree in computer science with a 4.0 GPA and an award for the highest GPA in the graduating class.
I have a Master's Degree in computer science with a 4.0 GPA and an award for the highest GPA in the graduating class. I have worked as a computer science professional for years and successfully tutored many students in computer science. Most of my AP Computer Science students have received highest grades in the subject and achieved the highest score (5) on the AP Test. I use extensive preparation materials for the AP test and for class tests, especially for the Livingston, Verona and Millburn school districts.
Elementary math provides the foundation for all other levels. At this level, it is important to interest the student in the subject so that they want to learn it and are eager to practice. I have many materials that can be used, so the child does not feel that it is the same thing all over again. I can also provide supplementary materials for the gifted students so that even though they may not have all the tools of math yet, they can solve pretty complex problems.
In geometry, having a correct picture is the key to solving problems. I work with the student to learn to draw clear pictures. Also, this is the subject where the student first encounters formal proofs. I make sure that they gain understanding of what it means to prove a theorem logically.

I have a Computer Science Master's degree from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. I achieved a 4.0 GPA there and was rewarded for having the highest GPA in my class. I have been employed as a Java programmer and have developed applications in Java for large companies. I have tutored many students in Java, especially for the AP Computer Science class.
As part of my computer science training, I was required to study logic and how it applies to algorithms in computer science. Logic is the building block of all sciences and math, and without understanding it the student will have a hard time in all of those. I also took a philosophy course in logic. I typically teach all concepts of logic from analogies to logical operations and their composition, as well as logic problems and how to solve them using the logical grid.
In pre-algebra, the student is introduced to the abstract concepts. These concepts have to be related to the real life. This is my goal for this subject. A student has to be able to solve word problems along with regular exercises, which builds up their skill level.
Precalculus builds upon Algebra 2 knowledge and extends it in order to prepare for Calculus. In this subject, it is imperative that the student starts thinking at a higher level and applies the concepts learned in Algebra 2 in order to succeed. Precalculus also typically includes Trigonometry, which is based on Geometry knowledge. My goal is to connect all of these subjects and present a picture that is thorough and easy to understand. As always, I have lots of practice materials to support the learning.

I can help with the material covered on the tests as well as test taking strategies which will result in a top score. I have successfully tutored many students who went on to be admitted to great colleges because they scored high on the entrance exams.
In trigonometry, the goal is to draw on what the student knows from algebra and geometry. It is important to bridge all gaps in the knowledge and introduce higher level concepts after that. My goal is for the student to fell confident and to provide many problems to work with.
