I'm recently graduated summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey with a BS in mathematics and will soon be pursuing a PhD in Biostatistics. I have been tutoring mathematics and statistics for the past 7 years and have experience working with students from second grade to undergraduate seniors. In high school, I tutored younger students in mathematics. Then in college, I continued tutoring these students via Skype while also tutoring mathematics on campus. When tutoring mathematics, I often find that students simply memorize algorithms instead of synthesize concepts. To ensure students can properly derive material for long-term retention, I use a combination of direct teaching with difficult concepts and Socratic questioning to build long lasting connections in students’ minds.

I enjoy deciphering mathematics/statistics to students who have not quite cracked the code! I have found through my tutoring experience that the singular way in which a teacher or professor presents material may not always click with every student. Therefore I view my role as a math/stat tutor to function as a guide through a student's mathematical journey. I interpret or translate what is taught in the classroom into digestible information. I do so by explaining different approaches to solving a problem, teaching how to read a textbook, and also remembering how I overcame difficult problems when I first learned a topic.

I do not have materials or syllabi for my subjects. I ask that students come with their own attempted HW, textbook, notes, and past assessments. My lessons start with HW problems that the student could not do on their own. Then if HW is finished, we will move to reviewing for up-coming assessments or reviewing past assessments. If at any point the student needs a review or practice problems, I will recommend textbook problems or find other sources. The last 10 minutes of the session we will summarize the concepts covered during the session, I will evaluate the student's weaknesses and strengths to help, and finally we will make a plan for the next session.

If you would like a guide on your journey through mathematics or statistics, please reach out to me to learn more about my tutoring. I will be happy to provide more information on my qualifications, including resume, CV, or references. I want to be as flexible as possible to meet your needs because my main priority is your comprehension and love for math or stats! Please note that lessons must be schedules 24 hours in advance.

SAS,

SAS

I have used SAS for statistics classes and then became certified in SAS Base Programming for SAS 9 through the SAS Global Certification Program. The certification includes manipulating and transforming data, and creating basic detail or summary reports using SAS procedures. I have since tutored students using SAS in their undergraduate statistics classes, such as regression analysis.

I have played piano for 15 years. My previous ensembles include the Jackson Liberty Jazz Band and The College of New Jersey concert band. I have also performed at nursing homes and private recitals. I have studied 2 semesters of musicianship (ear training, composition, and theory) and 2 semesters of private clarinet lessons (including 2 performances before a jury) at the college level. I have given introductory piano lessons to elementary students, and I have also experience assisting middle and high school students as a section leader and drum major.

Biostatistics

I will be pursing a PhD in Biostatistics after finishing a collaborative publication in the field from my undergraduate studies in statistics. I have a completed a research position at the University of Michigan through the School of Public Health in Biostatistics in which I was part of a team that built melanoma image classifiers using R. I completed another research position in Biostatistics at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies building Bayesian models of lake temperatures using satellite images. I have also tutored an introductory course in Biostatistics at my undergraduate college.

Very effective tutor for R!!!!

Danielle was an excellent communicator in breaking down, line by line, what the R code was doing that I had provided before the session. Along with helping me understand what the code was doing, and how it was doing it, she helped me modify it to avoid unneeded steps and make it more user friendly. I highly recommend Danielle for tutoring in R!

Detailed and knowledgeable Tutor

Danielle has helped me with R programming, and I was able to accomplish a better grade on my assignments. She teaches the materials very clear and thoroughly. Danielle doesn’t give out the answers right away but questions me to the extend of letting me think more of the concepts. I highly recommend Danielle as a tutor on any course materials! She is great :)

Super knowledgeable and professional

Danielle helped me learn R in a very practical and professional way. She reviews the details, asks questions, and pushes the student to understand. An excellent and positive tutor who is one of the best I have encountered anywhere.

Danielle was very knowledgeable of the material I was having a hard time comprehending in class. She was engaging and goes the extra mile. Highly recommended!!

We worked on z scores, which is the number of standard deviations away from the mean, use to go to the standard normal table, the numbers in the table corresponding with a z score represent the probability less than that z score. You can start with an x value, convert to a z value, and find the probability less than it, or you can start with a probability, find the z score, and covert to the x value.
