New Jersey City University (Spanish, Psychology)
I was born in Peru and moved to NJ without speaking a single word of English. I took ESL classes and felt in love with education. For this reason, I started this adventure by getting an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and I volunteer in Day Cares Center. As you will observe from my resume, I have completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree with a concentration in Spanish and Psychology and I have a Master Degree in Urban Education with Specialization in Modern Languages. I am a member of FLENJ (Foreign Language Educators of New Jersey), el Museo del Barrio, Instituto Cervantes and TPRS/CI interest Group of NJ.
I have also had experience using my skills in a variety of people related positions, including two years of tutoring experience working with college students, one year as substitute teacher, and one year as Elementary Spanish Teacher and four year as Spanish teacher at a Middle School in Mendham. This school was nominated NJ School To Watch 3 consecutive times. I am very passionate about teaching and language acquisition.

As a teacher, I use my understanding on second language acquisition to stimulate and foster a long-life independent learner. Online tools and authentic materials are part of my instruction in order to provide comprehensible input all the time. Also, I use my understanding on the natural learning process to support and stimulate language growth and diversity. I work with students individually and in small and large groups to identify their skills. And I use different techniques to approach and evaluate all students. Consequently, I am highly motivated and if given the opportunity, you will find me to be a reliable worker who will add to the strength of the learner skills while developing in my own professional experience. I am available for an interview or demo lesson and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about the job position, my qualifications and your needs.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I used to tutor college students for almost 3 years before I graduated from my master degree. I am highly qualified Spanish teacher in very prestigious middle school in NJ.
