mont clair state university (Math and Science)
I have an MEd from NYU and a degree in Math and Science from Montclair State University. I have eight years of Tutoring at an Education Youth Center, and experience teaching The American Sign Language & English at a High School in NY, Robotics and Mathematics (CRISP) at a Middle School in NY and a Newark High School. I used to teach Calculus I, II, Pre-Calculus, AlgebraI, II, Prealgebra, Discrete Mathematics, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, and Probability.
I am trilingual of English, Arabic, and Turkish. I can offer ample information about the culture, history and everyday life of the countries where these languages are spoken as I have lived in these countries for long periods of time. I take particular interest in the individual, personal needs of the student, I can detect weaknesses and find all possible ways to help the student to eliminate them. If you are an adult and plan to travel to these countries on vacation or business, in addition to instructing you in the language, I can assist you with cross-cultural orientation, culinary and logistics as I have detailed knowledge of the main European cities.
I favor hands-on learning experience for students, making sure that they are consistently engaging in each lesson as opposed to lecturing to them. I adapt lessons to the individual student by making them relevant to his/her long-term goals. I encourage questions throughout lessons as well as via email and text if a student gets stuck on an assignment or a topic outside of our meeting time. While I graduated in foreign languages, I enjoy tutoring students in SAT reading and writing. I am particularly strong in English grammar having used my background to develop courses in comparative grammar for continuing education schools. I am comfortable with students of all age levels, grades or abilities, and I like to assess their progress to adjust my instruction as needed. What matters most in my teaching is you, the student(s) and my ability to make your learning experience more desirable.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
