I am a seasoned veteran with over twenty years experience helping students prepare for college. My first introduction to working with students was at the Princeton Review. There I helped students prepare for their SATs and for the college essay. Because at that time the writing section was introduced to the SAT, it was also my first formal encounter helping students apply grammar rules.
Later I went on to work as an admission coordinator, TOEFL instructor and ghostwriter. I have dedicatedly serviced students at various capacities for the greater portion of my professional life. I am confident that any of those students will tell you that I always treated them attentively, with kindness and consideration to there unique needs.
As a native Spanish speaker, I understand the nuances of the language and can better explain what may be perceived as odd or confusing to a non-native speaker.
Because I speak more than one language, I understand how language is perceived to a non-speaker. This perspective allows me to teach English with a more intuitive perspective. Also, because I have taught all levels of English speakers, I understand the individual limitations of students based on education and interest.
I believe its important to form your own opinion about a tutor because a strong connection between a tutor and a student is pivotal for a student to succeed.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a former The Princeton Review instructor. While there I taught Critical Reading and Writing.
My major is English and about two years ago I earned my TEFL certification. I have been teaching Conversational English at NJCU for about two years now.
I am not only a native speaker, I also taught Spanish for the Princeton Review and teach TEFL classes at the American English program at NJCU. My teaching environment keeps me current with learners' distinct levels of language acquisition and helps me to continuously review and tweak lessons for these variations.
