I am a passionate educator and I am fully committed to the success of my students. I have twenty years of experience in education at a variety of levels. I started my career tutoring students one-on-one and in small groups in philosophy, history, and religion at a local community college. For the last thirteen years I taught elementary school at an urban parochial elementary school. I taught all subject areas in eighth and sixth grade. Although I have the ability to tutor many subject areas, I am concentrating on the subject area that I am most enthusiastic about: history. After attaining my first Master's degree I taught American History and World History as an adjunct instructor. I love education and have continued to hone my skills by continuing my own education. I am currently in the process of completing my second Master's degree in educational leadership at Seton Hall University.
My philosophy of education is simple; I take my students from where they are to as far as they are capable of going. Learning should be interesting and challenging but not overwhelming. I expect my students to be engaged and ready to work.
I hold myself to a high standard. I welcome any feedback that helps me to continue to improve my instructional techniques.
I am committed to helping my students and believe in being prompt. I will always endeavor to be on time and should a delay occur, I will notify my client as soon as possible. In turn, I understand that life presents unexpected challenges at times and I only ask that I be given a two hour notice of cancellation should something unexpected arise.
I look forward to hearing from you and working with you to help you achieve your academic goals.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
