I am looking for college students to tutor in daytime. Catch me now before the end of the semester rush.

I have both a BA in Mathematics and an MS in Statistics from Rutgers University. I have been tutoring math since 1991 and statistics since 2003. I also have my Certificate of Eligibility for Secondary School Mathematics from the State of NJ. I tutor part-time but I am actually a bio-statistician by profession.

I have tutored over 150 different students - anywhere from a few weeks to 5 years in duration. I can supply references if needed.

I believe that effective communication and a supportive environment is crucial to a good teaching/learning relationship. I don't mind questions, in fact I encourage them at any time!I see learning as a 2-way street. It is the students responsibility to stop me immediately and ask questions if he/she does not understand. It is my responsibility, in response, to answer those questions and find a new way of explaining the problem so he/she does understand it. I believe a student should be able to "talk" mathematics as well as "write" it. I am picky when it comes to using the correct terminology, but it is done with a supportive attitude and with good humor! I am very easy going and approachable!

My philosophy regarding math is as follows: it is a fantastic way of looking at the world and also improves necessary critical thinking skills in a student. In my opinion, nearly everyone can learn math if given the correct support and instructional methods. Let me share this great world with you!

Trigonometry Help

Michael came to the rescue for my daughter who is falling behind in Trig. She met with him for 2 hours via Skype. He answered all of her questions and made sure she understood everything. She said he explained things really well. We booked another lesson with him tomorrow. I am positive that he can get her back on track. He went through her material with ease. Plus he is extremely nice!. I HIGHLY recommend him!

knowledgeable, patient and supportive tutor

Mike taught my twin girls through their freshman year to their senior year, 2013 - 2017. He taught them from Algebra 2 to AP Calculus BC. I can honestly say he knew the answers to everything they threw at him without wasting a minute. they loved his style which is patient and supportive. the girls and me think that he was very helpful in achieving their goals through their high school years.

Statistics Made Easy

I gain a high level of confidence when Mike explains difficult to understand statistics concepts. I struggle learning statistics on my own but Mike is my go to person to learn and get through this difficult class.

Excellent tutor (Precalc)

We were extremely happy that we started Precalc with Mr. O. As soon as the class got over, we could see our daughter coming out with big smiles as if she is ready to take on more challenges.

Really awesome tutor!

Michael is extremely helpful and it really good at explaining theorems which helps you understand the full picture a lot better. He is so much better than my professor at teaching me what I learn in lecture and actually feel like I learn way more from him than I ever do from my professor. Furthermore he is really flexible and respectful of my time and things like that. He also has a really good price so overall hes a really awesome tutor and I recommend him highly to anyone looking for a tutor. Oh and another good thing about him is that if you don't happen to fully understand something when he first explains it he always knows how to show you in different ways how to understand it which in turn gives me a better idea of the bigger picture.
