"I wish I had called you sooner." That's what I hear most often from clients/students/parents.

My name is Aalok and I am a full time professional tutor.

I am honored to be recognized as one of Wyzant's finest (top 0.3%).

I can help students who are struggling, students who are looking to excel, and everyone else in between.

SAT/ACT is my specialty! I've developed my own material for these exams. In fact, I've trained other tutors as well. I also excel at math/quant when it comes to the GRE/GMAT. Whether you find math difficult or you're looking to earn a top score, I look forward to helping you.

I also offer assistance with the application process to undergraduate and graduate colleges/programs. I'm able to help with school selection, letters of recommendation, essay/personal statement, resume, interviews, early action/decision, financial aid, athletic scholarships, and much more. You are guided each step of the way from start to finish. Space is very limited for this service!

I won't go so far as to say I make tutoring fun, but I make sure it's engaging and meaningful. Tutoring isn't just memorization and repetitive practice drills; that's passive and wastes time. I've even worked with other tutors and educators to hone their skills and improve their teaching styles.

I have over nine years of experience working as a full time professional tutor. I have taught/tutored over 1600 students. I've taught over 720 students in a classroom setting and well over 850 students online. I've individually tutored well over 350 students (one-on-one). I am experienced in academic/test prep tutoring from grade school through college.

I also have experience working with students that have ADHD, dyslexia, students with IEP's, and other documented learning disabilities. I don't have formal training in specialized education, but rather successful experience. While other tutors may shy away from students who they think might be cha

An integral part of academic and test-prep tutoring consists of making sure students are studying effectively. I've seen too many students study very hard but not learn anything or retain anything. For study skills, I look to see exactly how the student seems to learn best (writing things down, visually seeing it, or simply by practicing the concept). This yields immediate results and a big boosts in confidence. I have plenty of experience of working with high school students preparing for high school finals and AP Exams at the end of the year, in addition to working with college students prepare for exams like the GRE, MCAT, and college finals.

College Counseling

Over the years I have worked with numerous high school students taking the SAT, ACT, and AP exams. With many of those students, I would sit down with them and look at when these exams are offered and how they line up with final exams or other activities. I also discuss if and when a student should re-take certain standardized exams and when the best time to take certain exams would be (such as end of Junior year or early Senior year). I also sit down with students and parents and talk about course selection, in addition to extra-curricular activities. I spend time going over deadlines in detail and talking to them about early decision, early action, and rolling admissions. I tell my students to work on their essays and the Common Application during the summer so that once the school year starts, they have that much less to do. In addition to that, I discuss with students which teachers and advisers they ask for letter of recommendation. I also help review essays and have helped many students put together applications and edit resumes. I've had a number of parents tell me that I've been more helpful than their son's/daughter's guidance counselor at school.

Excellent Tutor!

My daughter is extremely happy, thank you, Aalok! The approach to problems and solutions is something we were looking for: breaking it down to simplicity and clear understanding. We've tried so many different tutors and finally found the professional who can actually break it down in a very efficient and friendly manner. Amazing! Thank you!

Terrific SAT tutor

My son has only had 2 sessions with Aalok but he has already picked up some very useful strategies for taking the SAT. He has also shown him how to quickly solve some of the math problems that you may see on the test. Aalok has emphasized that just getting the correct answer is not good enough. You want to do it as quickly as possible in order to achieve a high score. We look forward to continuing to work with Aalok.

Excellent

I'm excelling in many aspects of english and math. He adjusts to your ability and has a lot of patience. I am learning to apply myself more than ever and my confidence in my abilities is gradually increasing since I've been going.

Helpful

Aalok provided me with GRE Drill questions previous to our meeting. During our session we went through a number of questions and after completing our session he then sent the answers and the process to get those answers to me which I found to be particularly helpful because I was able to see again where I went wrong at my own pace.

Accommodating and knowledgable

This was out second online tutoring session with Aalok..he tries hard to work around your schedule to accommodate. He is knowledgable in his teachings and keeps the interest of the student..my son does not complain when it's time for tutoring! Do not hesitate when choosing Aalok as your next tutor!

Helpful and dedicated tutor!

I was struggling in my college-level physics class with knowing how to apply equations and how to set up the problems so that I can solve them. He knew what to do in order to help me and made sure I understood what we were doing to solve the problems we went over. Aalok is a great tutor and went above and beyond with making sure I had all the resources to succeed in my class.

What can Aalok teach you?

Aalok can teach any science discipline with great depth. Same can be said about math. So, do not hesitate asking for help.

Choose this tutor! Make your life easier and your child will definitely benefit from his teaching

If you were thumbing through trying to find a tutor, just stop here and pick Aalok (Al). Yes he may be a little more expensive than some but in this case I believe you get what you pay for. We've had several tears over the years and we will leave Al is top notch. My son actually does not complain about doing his online sessions as he has dreaded seeing some tutors in the past. My son is a Junior in high school with a learning disorder and ADHD. He is prepping him for the ACT and SAT. As my son has taken once and did not do very well in reading and writing. Al assign homework which is very clear to understand what my son needs to do. He keep you in the loop as much as you want him to. The best part is Al really does care about your child and I can tell he enjoys his work as I have seen firsthand.
