I graduated Summa Cum Laude with two Bachelor's degrees - one in Mathematics, and the other in Subject-Matter (K-12) Education: Math - as well as a minor in Statistics & Operations Research. I'm April! I graduated Summa Cum Laude with two Bachelor's degrees - one in Mathematics, and the other in Subject-Matter (K-12) Education: Math - as well as a minor in Statistics & Operations Research. While in college, I worked as a peer tutor for 3.5 years, so I had a lot of experience working with students and really honing my skills as a math educator! There are so many different ways to think about a math topic, and now I am able to discuss concepts with students in multiple different ways.

I have taught in a high-school setting for two years, teaching everything from Algebra 1 to Calculus, so I know what your student is seeing in the classroom! This allows me to make adjustments and teach the concepts in another way, tweaking for each student's individual needs. Before tutoring begins, students/parents/guardians and I will meet (virtually/over the phone) to discuss the plan for the specific student. Then, during the tutoring sessions, we will discuss how students are doing in school and if they have any specific questions/topics to review before moving into any other curriculum. I'm very visual, so I love to include pictures and real-world anecdotes in my instruction. The focus will be very student-response heavy, so they can have a hand in their own learning (which, studies show, is the best way for students to learn!)

My favorite thing about tutoring and teaching is being able to work individually with students to enhance their knowledge of the concept - that "AHA!" moment is the best! I always welcome feedback and will work to provide you with quick responses and adjusted instruction (if applicable). I look forward to working with you/your student!
