Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Archaeology

I have studied and taken courses on Biblical Archaeology, including general principles and specific topics. I am able to discuss how to integrate archaeology into other subjects such as religion. I have also participated on an archaeological dig, and am able to speak about practices from experience.

Bible Studies

I am currently pursuing a Masters in Bible and Semetic Languages at the Jewish Theological Seminary. I have studied the Hebrew Bible and commentaries in the original language. I am currently a student teacher of bible in my student teaching position.

Classics

As part of my education, I was required to study Greek and Roman civilization. I have read some of their classic literature, and have an understanding of the major philosophical works. I understand how these works interact with the modern world, philosophy, and science.

Hebrew

I have studied Hebrew in university, Israel and graduate school. I am currently graduating with honors in Hebrew. I am able to read, speak and write in Hebrew, and have taken courses on teaching Hebrew.

Microsoft Windows

I have worked as a troubleshooter and computer lab manager for multiple organizations. I know how to work with Windows as well as how to troubleshoot. I have completed a number of training hours in order to act as a computer consultant.

Religion

I am currently studying Judaism and have studied Islam and Christianity. I have taught courses on comparative religions, and have studied world history including world religions. I am able to speak about the connections and development of western religions, and how they have affected one another in modern times.

Study Skills

As a student teacher, I have had to give thought to the varied needs of my students, including creating a variety of strategies to help them learn. I know of a few different note-taking systems, multiple methods of organization, and other ways to help students. I have had to use these skills to help me in both university and graduate school, where I am succeeding well, and I am confident in my ability to pass these skills on to others.
