I am proud to be a product of old world violin pedagogy, tracing my musical lineage back to Corelli. My training has included the Manhattan School of Music in NYC, where I was also a teaching assistant to Erick Friedman while still in my teens.
As a professional violinist, my career has spanned three decades, five continents, and nearly every genre of music from the concert stage, television and recording studios, and in Broadway pits. I am a published author, and a consultant on all aspects of instrument acquisition and identification, both historic and contemporary. I am currently a part-time DMA candidate at the university level, and on the adjunct faculty at two colleges.
I take teaching and the sharing of knowledge and experience very seriously, and tailor an individual curriculum for each student to accommodate and address both strengths and weaknesses. My preferred age range of students is 9 and up, with specialization in high school/college bound and adult beginners/returners.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I was trained in sight singing in the French tradition at the New School of Music in Philadelphia. My instructor, Dr. Joseph C., also taught simultaneously at the Curtis Institute, arguably the finest American Conservatory. Sight singing is imperative for every serious music student. If you can't sing it, you can't play it.
I am a professional violinist with 30 years of performing experience, and a tenured member of 4 professional orchestras in the metropolitan NYC area.
I have been teaching since I was a violin performance major and teaching assistant at the Manhattan School of Music in the 1980's. I have taught all levels and ages of students, from adult beginners, to college music majors, to elementary school students.
Teaching is a mandate for me, as it keeps my performance and intellect fresh and active.
