Having worked in education for over 20 years, I have a range of skills and expertise to offer. I have worked in both private and charter schools, serving children with learning disabilities, at risk children and children with ADHD and ADD. I am highly qualified in math and have taught in both the US and abroad. Anyone who has worked with me will describe my teaching as engaging and insightful. Although I am currently taking a hiatus from working in schools to raise my toddler, I am working with homeschoolers during the day and tutoring in the afternoons. Seeing a child who struggles in math, be it because they are behind or simply not connecting with their current content, and helping them succeed and engage in a safe environment brings me great joy.

Elizabeth is a extremely professional tutor with outstanding qualifications. She came prepared to assess weaknesses and quickly focus on the areas of concern. I highly recommend her. In just a few lessons we were able to correct a issues and improve test scores. I will certainly use Elizabeth again in the future if the need arises.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I served as the liaison between teachers, parents and students to implement interventions for struggling students, including students with ADD and ADHD. I also oversaw interventions and adjusted intervention strategies as needed. Worked with students with ADD and ADHD as a math teacher in charter school in Washington, DC as well as the Technology Director for a school serving children with language based learning disabilities.

Highly Qualified in Math
I've successfully tutored students in SAT math using data from practice tests to target student areas of improvement, using Dr. Steve Warner's methods (targeting levels and topics) and strategies to raise student scores.
Depending on your definition of special needs, I am qualified to work with students with ADD/ADHD and LD. I ran the intervention program and Special Ed referral program for a public school, requiring the implementation and oversight of multiple interventions for students. In addition, I have worked one-to-one with struggling students, supporting them with study/homework and organizational skills. Most of these students struggled due to ADD/ADHD or a learning disability.
I served as intervention coordinator at an inner city Charter School serving students with significant gaps in their education. Teaching students how to study and how to participate in class was one of many interventions needed. In addition, I managed the Grade 9 Study Skills class.
