I have a Master's Degree in Bilingual / ESL education. I speak English, Spanish, Serbian and Portuguese. I have taught third grade for 6 years. I have more than 10 years experience tutoring children (grades K-5) in after school programs.
I love tutoring because I get to work 1:1 with students and help them gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter. I find that the instruction is much more focused and effective than whole group instruction.
My knowledge of various languages helps me address students' language needs. I use a lot of visual aids to teach students patterns of language.
I am very knowledgeable of the Common Core Standards and reference them in my every day lessons.
I use many engaging resources to help students who struggle with math gain the confidence they need to tackle math concepts.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
