My name is Michelle and I am currently working as a Special Education (Self-Contained 4th-6th grade) teacher in Bergen County, NJ. I've worked extensively with children of all learning challenges including Autism Spectrum disorder, Attention Deficit disorders, behavior disorders, and multiple learning disabilities.
I am able to differentiate instruction in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. I use various, applied techniques along with the Common Core State Standards to fit the academic needs of each, individualized student so that he/she experiences success and self-confidence. I am also able to create modifications in order so that each, individual student could learn to his/her best ability. In addition, I will use technology to enhance the learning and understanding of each topic so that the child will have fun learning! Most of all I am kind, patient and willing to deliver the most effective instruction possible. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a certified teacher in New Jersey, I implement the Common Core State Standards in every lesson I teach. The common core standards I use apply to grades 1-6. In addition, I differentiate lessons and modify materials to fit the needs of each student.
I am a Special Educator who works extensively with students with Dyslexia in my classroom each day. I am trained in implementing Orton Gillingham, a multi-sensory approach to reading (often used to teach reading to dyslexic students). I use my expertise in Orton Gillingham to provide direct, systematic and sequential reading interventions for struggling students.
I am certified in NJ to teach Elementary Education and Special Education. While teaching as a Special Educator, I have worked with students with ranging disabilities.
I am a certified Special Education teacher in New Jersey. I am skilled in teaching students of ranging and multiple disabilities. I am ably to modify and differentiate instruction so that each student can learn to his/her best ability.
