Hello prospective students and parents,
I am happiest doing what I love - teaching mathematics, no matter what grade level or content area! I convey this to my students with joy, compassion and understanding. I know that many students have trouble mastering mathematics and many do not even like my subject, but I thrive on explaining it in such a way that students want to learn it and do well. Personal stories and a little humor always come into play, and while students may see me as a master of my subject, I try to convey that they too, can master it with some hard work and diligence. I teach mathematics so that I might make a difference in a student’s world – that I might be their hope and inspiration to finally learn the subject that is often dreaded and hated.
One of the challenges of teaching is meeting individual needs and differences. Therefore, using a variety of teaching styles and strategies is what I believe helps foster student learning.
My experience ranges from teaching students in middle school to teaching students at the community college, which I have done now for the past 18 years. My Bachelor of Science degree is in Secondary Mathematics Education (grades 7-12) from Millersville University, Millersville, PA, and my Master's degree is in Mathematics Education from Arcadia University, Glenside, PA.
I look forward to hearing from you! Hello prospective students and parents,
I am happiest doing what I love - teaching mathematics, no matter what grade level or content area! I convey this to my students with joy, compassion and understanding. I know that many students have trouble mastering mathematics and many do not even like my subject, but I thrive on explaining it

I was very pleased with Diane as a tutor. My daughter was struggling in her honors prealgebra math class when we started her sessions and Diane was able to not only help her better understand the subject and raise her grade, but to have more confidence in her abilities. She is patient, kind and very personable and I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a math tutor!
We met Diane for the first time last week. She did a fantastic job making my son feel comfortable. Diane is passionate about math and I am hopeful that this will affect my son in a positive way. Diane was very easy to talk to and she was able to talk extensively about her experiences and qualifications. Lastly, Diane was flexible and accommodating with my busy schedule.
Update 5/7/13 - Diane is an wonderful tutor! She is encouraging and excited about math. My son is progressing nicely. I would highly recommend Diane.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
