Pace University (Philosophy)
Hi! My name is Abby and I'm a highly motivated and focused English tutor. I'm currently a student at Pace University as a Philosophy major, a major based almost entirely on all that is English: writing, reading, linguistics, grammar, etc. I've maintained a 3.9 GPA and have a passion for learning and helping other students achieve and surpass their own academic goals.
I have a variety a different approaches I'm comfortable using to tutor students in an effort to best assist them in their learning. If the student needs a quiet and focused space to work in, then that's how our sessions will be done. If background noise or action helps the student focus, then let's take the session outside. Whatever works best for the student is what works best for me, and I am determined to maximize their skills in in anyway that may manifest itself.
As previously stated, my major is based upon the subject of English. I have experience tutoring fellow students who needed assistance with reading comprehension and application as well as all things writing: analytical, expository, creative writing, etc. I can also assist any students who need help with grammar and/or proper formatting (MLA, APA).
If you think you or possibly your child needs any level of assistance with their English academics, I would be more than happy to help. We will set goals and you/ your child WILL achieve them. No matter what it takes, I am determined to help you make this happen. Nothing is impossible to accomplish, and I can't wait to help you realize your full academic potential, succeed, and challenge yourself even further. Hi! I've been active my entire life, beginning in organized sports at the age of five. I've played soccer, basketball, football, swimming, etc. Throughout my years of experience in these sports, I've gained knowledge of strength and conditioning training, as well as dietary needs that help to maintain a healthy body. I also have a knowledge of yoga which incorporates both the mind and body; a huge advantage for an athlete. I've also officiated sports for two years, as well as coached at the high school level for one. Furthermore, I'm highly motivational and know techniques to get others engaged and ultimately make fitness their lifestyle.
I played football for two years in high school at the varsity level as a place kicker. During our seasons from August to December my teammates and I put 25+ hours per week into football, allowing for the ultimate amount of experience and knowledge to be gained during such time. In the off season (all other months of the year) I was able to enhance my skills, further my strength and condition, and learn more about the game as a whole. After my playing ended, I was fortunate enough to have a years worth of high school coaching at the varsity level wherein I coached place kickers and punters.
I have played soccer for 11 years, and have a profound love for the game. I was able to play in my schools as well as on a club/travel team, which exposed me to showcase tournaments and college level players. I also have two years of refereeing, thus I was even further familiarized with the rules of the game. Over my 11 years of playing I was able to train with many different coaches and players, including Christie Rampone of the USWNT. This game has brought me much joy, and I would be happy to share any knowledge I've gained from it so that others can have a similar experience.
