I am a certified elementary teacher. My experience includes work as a preschool teacher, substitute teacher, third grade teacher, and basic skills instructor. I have three daughters and have taken time off during my teaching career. I am currently working in a public school as a classroom aide. I have tutored students before and am excited to begin working with WyzAnt. I am willing to tutor all subject areas and can also help with homework and test preparation. I have worked with basic skills students teaching both math and language. I use the computer, games, workbooks, textbooks, and flashcards to teach and reinforce whatever skills your child needs help with. I communicate with the parents and the regular classroom teacher through emails and phone calls to discuss the students progress and any areas of concern.
Why should you choose me? I have experience. I am familiar with the common core standards at each grade level. I have a very easy going personality and form relationships with my students quickly. I know how to make my students feel comfortable so that they are excited and motivated to work with me. I reward their small successes and build their confidence so they can complete their classwork and homework independently. My goal is to work together as a team with the child, parents, and school and help the child master the skills they need to be successful in school. I look forward to helping you and your child. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
