My first task is to work with a student on some assignment, to see where we need to focus our efforts. Then I will tailor our meetings around the development of those skills. I try not to overload a student, but to begin at the beginning, and repeat something if it needs to be repeated. I have worked with many different types of students, from adults to high school, and adapt our sessions to what works best for that person.

My education includes a B.A. in Biology from Fordham University, where I graduated magna cum laude. My next educational endeavor resulted in an M.A. in Instructional Technology from San Jose State University in California. Finally, in 2005 I began work on my ESL teaching certification in the state of NJ.
After leaving the high school where I had taught library research and supervised a library council, I began teaching adjunct college English first to international students, and then to Americans. This work happened at Kean University, where students said they learned more in my class than in most of their others. I also taught developmental reading and writing at Berkeley College, and freshman composition at Baruch for one year, and Bergen Community College for three years.
Along the way I tutored the diplomats to the U.S. from Korea and Peru, and several other people from other countries. At BCC I often tutored students in the faculty office after class. This usually made the difference between a passing grade and an "A."
I am also a published author, and authored a book about the Revolutionary War in NJ.
