**EXPERIENCED WITH IN-PERSON AND DISTANCE LEARNING AND VERY FLEXIBLE ONLINE AVAILABILITY TO STUDENTS SEEKING TUTORING FROM HOME.**

My tutoring approach is modeled on the methods of my best teachers. Preparation, practice, and effort are key to achieving results. My priority is to ensure my students are given the necessary tools to excel in their subject matter. Whether it is building a basic foundation of Spanish or English vocabulary and grammar, preparing students for Spanish Advanced Placement testing, or guiding professionals in MS Word, Illustrator, or InDesign, I will ensure our shared goals are clearly identified, factored into our lesson plans, and considered in all evaluations.

I recently finished teaching at a private high school in New York City. I have also taught audio/visual translation as an adjunct professor at Montclair State University, have taught and tutor ESL, and have lived in several Spanish-speaking countries. I also have children who have studied Spanish over several years in our local school district, and am familiar with how extra tutoring in Spanish reading, writing, and oral proficiency can be of tremendous value as students advance, and when the time comes for AP testing.

Since every student is different with his/her unique learning style, I welcome any input and feedback from students and parents. I am always available to discuss questions, remain easily accessible, and will work diligently to help students and parents achieve their goals.

Whether you are a student interested in improving your Spanish or English language skills, Microsoft Word proficiency, or Adobe Illustrator/InDesign skills, or a parent hoping to help your child improve reading, writing, and oral proficiency, your success is my mission. Please do not hesitate to get in touch. And, if you are considering a career in translation or language services, I can help you develop the skills employers look for when considering new hires or contracting freelance work.

Microsoft Word

I have worked in Microsoft Word for most of my professional life. As a project manager working for international communications companies, I was responsible for learning the application, inside and out, in order to efficiently manage translation projects. Over the years, as the application has evolved, I have stayed abreast of updates and changes to functionality. As an adjunct professor at MSU, in addition to teaching audiovisual translation and project management, I have to teach my students the basics of MS Word in order for them to complete their assignments.

ESL/ESOL,

ESL/ESOL

I have studied multiple languages throughout my life, including English, Latin, Hebrew, Spanish, Japanese, and limited French and Italian. I grew up in a bilingual English-Italian household, and my mother was an English professor and ESL teacher. I have had extensive exposure to foreign language speakers throughout my life, and am patient with the learning process (I understand what it feels like to be a learner of a new language). I taught ESL to Japanese businessmen working on the first iterations of GPS at Navtech back in the late 80's. I also taught ESL to Spanish speakers in Spain while obtaining my Master's degree in Spanish at Middlebury College. As an adjunct professor at MSU, I am comfortable in a teaching environment. In fact, many of my students speak Spanish as a first language, and English second, so teaching complex subject matter requires patience and consideration of their different learning styles and challenges.

Spanish

All of my life, I have been surrounded by Spanish-speakers. I grew up in California, where many people speak Spanish, and I lived in Spain, both as an undergraduate and graduate student. When I finished graduate school, I lived and worked in Puerto Rico and New Mexico, where I was required to conduct interviews and lead research using my Spanish language skills. I have studied Spanish extensively, starting in high school, continuing for a BA in Spanish at Santa Clara University, and then a Master's in Spanish language and grammar at Middlebury College. I read, write, and speak Spanish on a daily basis for work, as well as communicate with many peers and colleagues in Spanish. In many ways, because I grew up speaking English first, then learning Spanish language and grammar second, I have an exceptionally strong command of grammar rules. I spend a good amount of time editing and proofreading Spanish translation for my business. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience in Spanish language and culture, and welcome the opportunity to help new students of Spanish gain a better understanding and level of confidence navigating the language.

Jason is very knowledgeable and patient.

I contacted Jason at the last minute, to help my grandson with a homework project. He was willing to work with my grandson at the last minute. I really appreciated his assistance. I recommend him very highly.

Knowlegable and patient tutor

Far as Mircosoft, he taught me how to font, color my words, and how to properly space my sentence/paragraphs. Overall he is showing me how to use Mircosoft accurately.

Great tutor, very patient

Explained my problems with Spanish easily, in a way that made sense and could be applied more widely than just the assignment being worked on. Very patient when explaining things.

Word fo Mac

Excellent teacher and manner Very helpful and he knew the program well. Will definitely hire Jason again for ongoing help with Word. The Zoom format was good but in-person would be more efficient

Awesome tutor!

Jason helped me with so much in one session! He helped me understand how to keep documents on my desk top and store in the cloud. We worked on Outlook email and calendar functions and he even helped with the Outlook AP! He also taught me how to make folders within folders to organize my desk top. I was able to go back and teach my boss a thing or two! He’s very patient and thorough. He sent a follow up email summarizing what we went over as well as access to view the recorded session.
