About Tiger Bill

Have you ever wished you could have the drumming speed, power, endurance and control of the world's greatest drummers? Well, now you can! Whether you want to play drum corps or drum set, light jazz or heavy metal, I can teach you exactly how the world's greatest drummers do what they do because I am one of them.

I can teach you how to play better and faster for longer periods of time without getting tired, regardless of your age. And I will teach you how to avoid problems with carpal tunnel syndrome and other common repetitive motion injuries. But that's only a small part of what I can do for you.

The world's best drummers are those who can keep great time while beating out a creative groove, which usually takes years of practice unless you know the shortcuts. After more than 30 years of teaching students of all ages, I'm familiar with all of the shortcuts.

Hi, this is Tiger Bill. (My nickname "Tiger" came from one of the world's greatest drummers, Joe Morello.) I have a reputation for being one of the world's fastest drummers. I officially won that title at the "NAMM World's Fastest Drummer Competition" for the fastest hands. I also set a record for the fastest feet. I'm also the author of books and DVDs that have helped thousands of drummers over the years. I have personally trained drummers from all over the globe to help them improve their chops while avoiding the repetitive motion injuries that come from playing under too much tension. That's why I called the system I developed "Tension Free Drumming." Now I am accepting a limited number of students in your local area.

You probably won't find my lessons to be the least expensive on the block, on a per lesson basis, but they are the most cost effective in the long run. I custom design each lesson to provide you with the maximum amount of useful information and drills to help you develop each technique correctly. When you come in for your next lesson, you will be able to progress to something new rather than wasting your time and money repeating the same old stuff. Whatever you're looking to learn: music reading, hand or foot techniques, grooves, coordination and independence, fast/accurate double bass drumming, or solo concepts, I can help you take your drumming to the next level. Check it out. You won't be sorry.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drums

I am a professional drummer, clinician, instructor, author, publisher, and producer. I have had formal drum set lessons with three instructors over the years, and I attended college as a music major. In 1978, I wrote a groundbreaking book called "DoubleDrum: A Double Bass Drum Text."
In 200,4 I started producing a local cable TV show on drumming called "Fun with Drums," which has since been released on the Web as "Tiger Bill's Drum Beat Web TV." Over the years I have contributed articles to Modern Drummer Magazine, and I've been producing a regular monthly online column for Drum Magazine since 2004. In 200, I released my first DVD explaining my concepts of Tension Free Drumming for hand technique and, in my private lessons, I teach the importance of learning to play without tension due to the benefits it brings. As a drum set performer, I have worked with many bands over the years playing a large number of musical styles from jazz with Thad Jones to classic rock with Vince Martell.
