About Kevin

I am a current student of chemical engineering at Rowan University. Chemistry and math are my favorite things, but I am able to tutor for other sciences (at the high school level) other than chemistry as well. I have a background in mathematics that currently reaches up to engineering level math (differential equations, mostly).

During my high school years, I had the chance to tutor younger students in topics with which they were having trouble. I have tutored mathematics from algebra I up through precalculus. More recently, I have had the opportunity to unofficially tutor my fellow classmates in higher level subjects, such as college-level physics, chemistry, and some of calculus I, II, and III. Many of these college students have told me that I explain the subject in a much better way than their professors.

One of the things that I make sure whenever I tutor someone is that they have a strong foundation in the content area. I feel that as soon as the foundation is built, I can easily assist the student in what he/she is having trouble with. Each lesson would probably have a little bit of exercise to help build the foundation, then focus on the troublesome topic.

Most of the tutoring I have done in the past has required only a few meetings because I am able to quickly assess a student's background in the subject and address any weaknesses in the student's background. I enjoy working with students (mostly of high school or college age), whether they need just a little push to get them from a B to an A or they need major help to prevent them from failing. I look forward to meeting any students that would require any help at all.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have always caught onto mathematics very quickly. To my classmates, this has been a blessing because they know that they can always come to me for help. I have spent a considerable amount of time helping younger students with Algebra I. My explanations of Algebra I basics have helped several students succeed.

Algebra 2

I have always caught onto mathematics very quickly. To my classmates, this has been a blessing because they know that they can always come to me for help. I have experience in helping other students. As a high school student, I spent a considerable amount of time helping younger students with their classes. I have tutored other students in Algebra II on several occasions.

Calculus

I have always caught onto mathematics very quickly. To my classmates, this has been a blessing because they know that they can always come to me for help. Now that I have taken calculus up through Calculus III, I am able to tutor Calculus I, II, and III. I have much experience in helping other students with their mathematical difficulties.

Chemistry

I am a chemical engineering student who has passed through AP chemistry and advanced college chemistry I and II. I have tutored students in all levels (AP, honors, advanced, and regular) of high school chemistry while I was in high school. Now that I am in college, I have helped my classmates through college chemistry.

Precalculus

I have always caught onto mathematics very quickly. To my classmates, this has been a blessing because they know that they can always come to me for help. I have tutored students in precalculus numerous times while in high school.
