I was a certificated formal teacher in Junior High School in Taiwan for 7 years. I received a Master degree of Education in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership from National Taiwan Normal University. I will receive my second Master degree of Art in Philosophy and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2015.
I was also a scoutmaster in Taiwan. Therefore, I am experienced in working with children from age 6 to 18. While working with the young people for a long time, I understand their needs and thoughts. I can develop curriculum and evaluations suitable for each level of Chinese learners. In addition, engaging in scouting enables me to set up activities and authentic environment for learning. Of course, the preferred teaching style can be discussed and subjected to change by clients.
I can handle and use both simple and traditional Chinese well. Students can learn different cultures through me, which will broaden their horizon and gain international perspectives. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
