I teach many different instruments, such as guitar (electric and acoustic), bass guitar, drums, piano, and ukulele. Hello! My name is Phil, I’ve been a musician for over 15 years and I’m currently accepting more students! I teach many different instruments, such as guitar (electric and acoustic), bass guitar, drums, piano, and ukulele. I love incorporating artistry, emotion, expression, music theory, songwriting and production into my teaching.

I’ve performed in foreign countries, recently got a Bachelor’s degree in Music Production from Berklee College of Music, and I have an EP out on Spotify (Phavors - if you want to check it out)!

I love working with all kinds of students. Currently my youngest is 5 and my oldest is in his 40s! Some students just love to play as a nice stress-reliever, and others are performing artists with their original songs on Spotify!

As of now I only teach virtually via Zoom/FaceTime/Skype.

I am an audio engineer and can mix, master, and edit anything for you - whether it be a song you wrote, a podcast you recorded, or audio for a commercial. Whatever you need that requires audio work, I can definitely help you with!

To me, the most important thing about learning is making it fun and interesting. Music has to be fun! There’s too many non-fun responsibilities we have in life, and music can not be on of them. Music should be our friend, a stress reliever, a passionate activity - NOT something to stress about! When I teach, I like to make sure we are learning whatever it is that YOU want to learn. Whatever direction you want to go in is up to you, and I’m here to help guide you through it!

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out! I’d love to hear about what it is you want to learn, whether it be beginner basics or advanced soloing and theory based approaches!

Music Production

Music Production

I have been a producer and sound/mix engineer for over 7 years. I recorded, mixed, produced, and mastered my own music which is on all streaming services under the name “Phavors”. I’ve produced, mixed and mastered for many other artists as well. Production and recording are some of the things I am most passionate about in music. Ableton is my DAW of choice. I have been in many recording studios over the years with different bands and made my own home studio in college. Berklee was very helpful in my music production journey.

Music

Ear Training,

Ear Training

I have taken war training classes and practice it nearly daily in my lessons with my students. I am constantly correcting online guitar tabs, chord charts, etc because I can hear the mistakes. I am a music producer and mix/sound engineer that has produced many artists, which involves a much more specific and detailed trained ear for frequencies, dynamics, and diatonic compatibility within productions.
General Music,

General Music

I have been teaching for 7+ years. The subjects have ranged from beginner ukulele lessons to advanced theory and sound engineer lessons. I like to take time to get to know the student and where exactly they are at in their musical journey so I can further their knowledge in an adequate manner. I can incorporate basic music theory into my teachings for beginners and take it all the way to advanced theory as the student progresses. This allows me to be very helpful for students who are doing school/college homework, reviewing music they need to perform for their orchestra, or helping them with songwriting and production.
Guitar,

Guitar

I have been playing guitar for well over 15 years. It is by far my favorite instrument to teach. I have performed in many bands over the years as a guitarist and bass guitarist where I have played countless shows both domestically and abroad. My guitar playing incorporates finger picking, chord theory, voicings, soloing, improvisation, songwriting/composition, and emotional expression through music.

Music Theory

Music Theory

I have been studying music theory since I was a kid. I took the courses in high school and excelled at them, never getting below a 95 average for the year. In college I barely had to pay attention in class and I got A’s in all my theory classes. To this day I apply music theory to nearly all of my teachings as I see fit and relatable to the material. I believe theory can be a great tool for performers, composers, and even hobbyists. My theory knowledge ranges from classical to jazz as well as how it can be applied to production and songwriting.
