About Beatrice

I am an experienced High School Special Education math teacher who specializes in Algebra 1 and Geometry. I am also available for elementary and middle school math. I have 30+ years experience working with special needs students including those with learning disabilities and behavior disorders. I have worked extensively in a variety of settings. My passion is teaching and watching my students experience that "ah hah" moment of understanding. My goal is to create an atmosphere that is encouraging and accommodating to fit your child's needs. I will work with your child to identify their strengths and weakness. I will provide creative, individualized lessons that will enable them to grow.

Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in tutoring for your child! Thank you. I look forward to working with you and your child.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADHD

I am a special education teacher with over 25 years of teaching experience. Many of my students have ADD/ADHD, both classified and unclassified students. My experience in special education allows me to adapt lessons/teaching methods that are specific to each child's needs. I currently teach both co-teaching and resource room classes.

Special Needs

I have been teaching for 29 years in the area of special education. For 15 years I worked with children with behavioral disorders as well as those having learning disabilities. Currently, I am teaching high school math. I have helped write curriculum and have developed programs for children with disabilities. I have experience with children of all ages. Although I have been teaching special education mathematics for many years, I am also Elementary certified. I have tutored a 9 year boy for the past 2 years in all areas.

Study Skills

In my 25+ years of teaching, I have developed and implemented a study skill program. I've worked with students to develop organizational skills as well as developing skills that allow the student to prepare for assignments and assessments.
