I was a National Merit Scholar who graduated with a AB with Honors in the Humanities from Stanford. I went to Cornell University for graduate school. I have over 20 years experience teaching college-level literature, writing, and composition as well as specialized, writing-intensive seminars, including honors and media studies courses. In addition, I have extensive experience advising undergraduates across all majors and minors.

I love to tutor because I deeply believe in the relational aspect of teaching and learning. Students learn best when they are genuinely seen and valued for their strengths and praised for their creativity! Working with me, each person comes to recognize their multiple strengths and talents. I approach reading and writing as not just "content mastery," but rather honing creative expression and cultivating a highly specific set of critical thinking skills.

I taught college undergraduate German language and culture at all levels at 3 institutions of higher learning over a ten year period. I lived in Germany for many years and understand the challenges English speakers often encounter while learning German.

I completed TOEFL/ESL coursework at Stanford as an undergraduate and have experience tutoring students preparing to take the TOEFL.

Tutoring works when students surpass their goals! Because these vary for each individual, I encourage students and parents to share their concerns with me and welcome feedback so that we can tailor an individualized, rewarding learning experience. I am easy to reach and will respond promptly.
