About Michelle

I received a Master's degree in secondary science education from the University of Connecticut. I currently teach 8th grade science and have taught physics in the past. Although my background is in science, I am confident with all middle school (and below) subjects. I am also comfortable with high school biology. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Genetics

I have a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Biology Education and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I took human genetics in college. The course covered the principle topics associated with eukaryotic genetics. The topics include: structure and function of genes, chromosomes and genomes, biological variation resulting from recombination, mutation, and selection, population genetics, use of genetic methods to analyze protein function, gene regulation and inherited disease.

Physical Science

I taught advanced physical science last year.

Great tutor

Our 6th grade daughter needed some help to really grasp her middle school science class material. Michelle found the right way to explain the concepts to her. Our daughter is now much more comfortable with the course material and her grades have greatly improved.
