Bio

I have a true love to help others succeed. I have taught various middle school courses through college level. These courses consist of Basic Math, Intermediate Math, College Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, PreCalculus, Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Discrete Analysis, etc. Tutoring students has always been something that I enjoy as I see the value of small group dynamics over a classroom environment creating a higher ability to grasp math competencies.

I am dynamic and passionate at driving developmental growth in individuals and encouraging focus. I possess a high level of creativity who engages multi-level, cross-functional audiences in interactive discussions and hands-on learning in mathematical concepts.

I have developed and delivered various training programs throughout my career. I have achieved an 184 score on the Praxis II Middle School Mathematics Test (0069) with pass requirement of 152 as well as a high score on the Praxis II High School Mathematics Test (0061). I completed the First Days of School Fellowship Program offered through Rutgers University for Alternate Route 1A requirements.

Since 2008 I have taught college level mathematics courses and have positively impacted student’s success in the classroom. I engage students to realize math is all about building blocks and that math is actually like riding a bicycle - once you really learn it you never forget how to do it!

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught at the college level since 2006. I have a NJ K-12 certification for math. I am a very patient and understanding instructor who enjoys helping others learn. I am aware of many manipulatives that contribute to various learning methods. I am able to break down math into building blocks of learning to ensure a solid foundation. I have taught K-6th graders and know the right balance of encouragement to build confidence.

I have experience working with children for increasing Study Skills as a result of coursework taken about Organizational Behaviour and Learning Outcomes. Students learn at different paces as well as different methods and determining the best fit method builds confidence and positive learning experiences for younger age students this in turn allows the student to overcome learning barriers that otherwise are encountered. I am confident that through working with a child student to develop Study Skills I can dramatically improve academic progress.

Test Preparation

Praxis,

Praxis

I created two Praxis II courses; Middle School Math (00069) and High School Math (00061) and taught them through the Community Professional Program at County College of Morris. I personally took both tests and scored high on both exams. I am well versed in these courses and the course work I developed has allowed over 40 teachers pass the Praxis Exams. My courses were so well received that I had teachers take both to obtain both certifications.

Great math tutor , caring person

Lisa takes a personal interest in her students and is a great math tutor. Lots of patients. Not in it just for the tutoring fees. Would recommend to any family.

SAT PREP

Lisa is currently tutoring my son, who is a junior in high school, for SAT math. After one session with Lisa and experiencing a previous tutor, I had no doubt that Lisa was the right tutor for my son. With Lisa’s experience, patience and personality, she will have my son prepared for his SAT’s in no time. I was impressed with her when my 16 yr old son said “I like my tutor”.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor.

My daughter had been struggling with Geometry. She was on the verge of failing. The last two exams she actually failed. Lisa came for an hour session on Saturday and my daughter took her Chapter test on Tuesday. Her teacher emailed me and told me she scored 96/104. What an amazing comeback thanks to Lisa!

Knowledgeable and very patient tutor

Met Lisa for the first time due to my daughter failing calculus first marking period. She taught my daughter derivatives and helped her review for a quiz coming up. Also helped her make prior quiz corrections. She was very patient with her and would guide her through problems. When she did something right, she would praise her to encourage her to feel more confident with her math skills. Will definitely be booking more sessions with her so my daughter could catch up. My daughter felt comfortable with her. So glad I found Lisa!

Lisa Lisa, math tutor cult jam!

Lisa is more than knowledgeable. Understatement. Very patient and also knows the right questions to ask in a very caring way to ensure even very shy students feel comfortable and further ensuring they understand material. Incredibly impressed. She has a commitment and care that is backed up by tremendous ability.

Good approach

Lisa asked me to reason out loud and solve the problem how I normally would. I thought this was a great approach and really highlighted for me areas where I lack a comprehensive understanding for a concept and what topics I need to understand better.

Great Tutor

Lisa has been helping my son for about a year now and gives him the extra help he needs to really grasp concepts and do well on tests. We will continue to use her until he graduated from high school!

Wonderful tutor for my sons

We are so please to have found Lisa to tutor our 2 sons who are 13 (algebra 1) and 8 years old. She is so patient, kind, professional... I was worried at first because they were going to spend their weekend doing extra school work, but surprisingly, Lisa made it so comfortable and has a great personality. She kept them engaged and encouraged them. They haven't complained once and have told us how nice she is. I highly recommend Lisa and will continue working with her throughout the summer.
