Hi I'm Steven! I have 5 years of experience tutoring all levels of math, physics, and computer science.

When it comes to the ACT and SAT, I would consider myself highly knowledgeable in the math section. Many of my previous students have experienced 10 point improvements on the ACT and 50-100 point improvements on the SAT.

In terms of physics, I received my Bachelor's degree in it, but most importantly I have put in the hours in helping students gain a better understanding in the subject. Over the years I have developed easy to understand step-by-step solutions to almost all problems a student can be assigned in an intro to physics class. My way of teaching physics ensures that students never feel like they don't know how to start a problem, and are knowledgeable in how to make necessary assumptions in the process. I also make sure to provide a mathematical and physical reason to show why each solution makes sense.

In math I have experience teaching pre-algebra all the way up to advanced calculus, and everything in between. With this experience I already know the types of problems the teacher wants the students to understand and have well-crafted explanations for each one of them. I also am very aware of the necessary skills the student is expected to have when solving a problem. If I feel that there might be a gap in knowledge, I'm patient and more then willing to work on these skills and make sure the student has a strong mathematical base going into future courses.

Currently I'm pursuing a Master's Degree in computer science. Some of the projects I've completed in python include physics simulations, handwriting recognition software using deep learning, and programs that interact with databases for the backend of a website. I also have experience making stand alone desktop applications in python and am confident I could teach a beginner in the language how to design and implement one themselves.

When tutoring any subject I constantly remind my students that the problems provided are usually not that creative. Most of them are predictable, and even if they seem impenetrable, are a disguise for testing a couple of core skills in succession. So, my main goal when teaching anybody is to break down all the problems a student may have to solve into a few basic ones that make sense. Not only does this strategy ensure good test scores, but also a fundamental understanding of the topic, and a framework to solve any set of problems they might encounter in the future.
