I am a full time teacher who has tutored after school/camp for many years. I received my Master's Degree in Education from Bank Street College of Education. I have experience teaching elementary and middle school grades and I have taught all the standard subjects including, reading (from beginning to more advanced reading comprehension), spelling, grammar, writing (basic sentences through paragraphs and essays), math, social studies and science. I am also familiar with many technological tools from Microsoft Office to many Ipad apps.
I have tutored many students in a wide variety of subjects over the years. With each student I am able to bring my knowledge and experience as a full time teacher to help the student. I am able to tailor my instruction to the specific needs and interests of the student using a wide variety of strategies and activities. In addition, I work to make the tutoring experience fun and interesting, not just more time sitting in a classroom.
In addition to learning Hebrew from my own Elementary through High School days, I have traveled to Israel extensively, taking immersion Hebrew courses there. Most recently I worked in a Judaic Studies classroom at a Jewish Day School, helping to teach Hebrew.
In addition to my time teaching reading, writing, vocabulary, spelling and more, I graduated college with a BA in English, learning to analyze text and write comprehensive, thoughtful essays.
I am currently teaching 2nd grade and have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grades in the past as well. I have worked with students across all the elementary grades.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
After graduating from Bank Street College of Education with my Masters in General Childhood (Elementary K-6) Education, I have had the opportunity to teach several grades across the elementary spectrum before "settling down" as a 2nd grade teacher. My experience in the classroom, as well as my graduate education, allows me to identify and address each student's individual strengths and weaknesses. I can use the many strategies I use in the classroom to differentiate instruction for a specific student in a class to do the same for a student I am tutoring.
After learning Hebrew myself as a student from kindergarten through 12th grade, I attended Hebrew University in Jerusalem for a semester of College where I took an intensive and immersive Hebrew class. During the intervening years and since I have had many opportunities to practice and refine my Hebrew including currently working in Jewish Day School. I have taught and tutored Hebrew in a variety of settings to students of various ages.
