In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been an Adobe InDesign user since the first version. I also have a certificate of completion of 10 hours from Lynda.com in CS5 and one from CS6 (new features). I am proficient.
I have been in desktop publishing since before it existed and used traditional methods, e.g., paste-up, typesetting, camera work, and film output. I have created/designed newsletters, business cards, billboards, magazine ads, etc. I was a pre-press specialist and also taught desktop publishing.
My first Apple Computer was the Classic (1989). I have used all the Apple Computers since that year. I have even worked on the NeXT computer by Steve Jobs when he left Apple. I worked at Apple in 1990 in Ft. Lauderdale FL - corporate. I taught a class in Macintosh Basics in Clifton, NJ (Essex Computer), which is now in Hackensack, NJ.
