I am an Ivy League graduate with a M.S. Degree in Education and 30 years of experience teaching children and young adults how to write effectively. I especially enjoy helping older students with research papers. My students achieve better results because I give immediate, positive, constructive feedback during sessions that are active and enjoyable. I work with my students on-line and in person. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Your paper is all done but you know that it isn't as good as you'd like. I can help you improve it! Simply share your document with me on Google.docs, or email it to me as an attachment. I will work with you to improve it.
Many students need organizational and editing support once they begin to write an essay or a paper. They may have ideas but need help laying out the structure, or they have disparate points to make but need an overall clarifying "umbrella" to thread these together and make a point. I can help and I enjoy this kind of work. Much of this can be done using Google Docs, or by email/phone.
1. I can help you with ideas. Or...You tell me the goal(s) or what you want to convey in your letter, your essay, your article, or your paper
2. You write an initial draft without worrying about mistakes, organization, spelling... just write on Google.docs (I will guide you through the process of creating and sharing a document)
3. I help you tie it together by asking you questions after I read your initial draft. Your answers will help me formulate sentences that will tie your work together.
I will teach you to write directly and effectively. Once you are comfortable with writing, you will develop your own style, and it will be good!
