I've tutored peers in the subjects of English, Science, Mathematics and History. The "aha" moment in a students eyes is a rewarding experience for me. I enjoy customizing my approach to each individual student to fit their needs and style of learning. Each lesson is a learning experience for me as well, as I find what makes a person want to learn, and strive to spark that passion in them.
I've received above average grades in the subjects of Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Differential Equations while in College.
I have received awards in the subject of Astronomy I and II in college during awards ceremonies.
Spanish was my first language as a child of Dominican Parents and first generation American born Citizen. I have since excelled in the English language as well and have been a translator of Spanish to English documents and vice versa for over 10 years.
I am a natural people person. It is a joy to help others grow and learn. I believe education is not one size fits all and should never be boring and tedious. My goal is to instill the learn of learning I have in each student I tutor. To spark that passion in a child is a wonderful gift that never goes away and is the foundation for success, discipline, and hard work. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
