Bio

I am a native Japanese speaker, born and raised in Japan. I became fascinated in English language at the age of 13 and taught myself how to read and write it. I came to the U.S. for the first time as an exchange student in 2001 and that's when I really started speaking English. They threw me in the middle of nowhere where I was forced to speak English 24/7. After going back and finishing high school in Japan, I came back for college. I am now a freelance translator (English to Japanese) as well as a homeschool coach for my own children and do tutoring on the side.

Translation doesn't only require simply knowing the two languages but a very deep understanding in how they function in our lives. With my extensive knowledge in linguistics, I can offer you a unique opportunity to explore the language, whether it be English or Japanese.

I am a grammar nerd for sure, but I am all for fun when it comes to learning. It should be a mind stimulating experience, not a chore. Learning a language always brings me joy (I am currently teaching myself Mandarin and Spanish) and it should to you, too! We can cover various topics of your interest in our lessons to keep you motivated.

I have another side gig where students submit a short essay that they have written in English, and I proofread/edit it while explaining details on grammar, cultural differences, speech formality, efficient writing, etc.. So if you want to focus on your writing skill, I got you covered there, too.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. I am looking forward to having the opportunity of guiding you through the joy of learning a new language.
