Thomas Edison State College (Spanish)
I worked as a substitute teacher in the Atlantic City School District for about two years as a Spanish teacher and ESL teacher in elementary schools as well as in the district high school. Consequently I worked as a permanent Spanish substitute teacher at Woodbury Junior-Senior high school teaching Spanish 1, 2 and 3. Currently I'm the Spanish teacher at Chatsworth Elementary School in Woodland, NJ. Even though my experience is mainly in the classroom during my time teaching I was able to tutor high level Spanish to two college students who spoke a bit of Spanish but wanted to improve their writing skills and speaking skills.
I was born in Lima, Peru. I’m a native Spanish speaker being able to read and write in Spanish and English fluently. Coming from a family where most are teachers including my father and mother the interest for teaching has always been a very strong inspiration for me. I enjoy helping children and adults and I believe by teaching them, it will help me reach them in a positive level. Learning a new language is one of the most important task someone can do not only does it open different job opportunities but it also connects you to learning more about culture diversity.
I know what it takes to learn a new language, I had to learn English when I first came to the US as well is not easy but is something that can be achieved with hard work and dedication.
I encourage everyone to reach out to me and let's have some fun learning Spanish! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
