About Keoshia

My name is Keoshia and I am currently a 4th year doctoral student at Seton Hall University in the Counseling Psychology Program. I have a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. Since a child I have always had a passion and interest in helping others academically. Furthermore, being a former college athlete and having mandatory tutoring sessions helped validate my interest in helping others, especially college students. Although most of my tutoring experiences have been volunteering, I have teaching experience at Montclair State University and Seton Hall University. I have experience in teaching Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences, and Careers and Decision Making.
As a current student I feel like it has permitted me to be more attuned with the subject matter of Psychology because it is so fresh. As an advisor of undergraduate students I really get an opportunity to broaden my perspective on the teacher-student classroom experience. Instead of thinking about how the professor may feel, I always get a chance to hear student opinions on how they learn which is very important. Everyone learns differently, some are visual, others are auditory, some learn by touching, and the rest are a combination. My goal for my students is to meet them at their level, capitalize on their strengths (e.g., learning styles) and help them to surmount learning curves, fears, and weaknesses.

I am currently a fourth year doctoral student in Counseling Psychology with a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. I have volunteered off and on as a tutor since my undergraduate years and have year of professional teaching experience. As a PhD student I worked as an advisor for undergraduate students, and guest lectured for the Psychology Club and Master's level Psychology courses at Seton Hall University.

If you are interested in working with someone who capitalizes on your strengths, breaks down materials in a fun, yet creative way and be around a cool person :) please feel free to contact me. I am a strong believer that actions speak louder than words--give me an opportunity to show you.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
