I am Julian J., a 29 year old female, with a true passion and enthusiasm for mathematics and the English language. I have been tutoring for a couple of years now and have had great success with my students, ranging from elementary to middle school.

I began tutoring while I was a nanny for two students and discovered I have a real love for teaching. Perhaps this love began early on. I grew up where observing my mother in her classroom was common practice. I become a true admirer of knowledge, learning and teaching as well. I am currently in a the Graduate College at Montclair State University, studying to become a speech pathologist.

I enjoy one-on-one tutoring and group tutoring as well. My goal is to teach while actively engaging my students with fun and challenging activities. The most effective way a student can absorb and recall learned knowledge is through relevant teaching. I like to get to know my client before tutoring them to ensure I can taylor my approach to their interests and needs.

My enriching experience as a substitute teacher for students with special needs has equipped me with a wide array of skills.

My Silly Side Story: Growing up I used to think I was absolutely horrendous at one subject: history! The subject never struck my interest, nor did I ever remember getting an A in a single history class. "Why did we have to remember all of the countless dates and random facts about hundreds of people from before I was even born?" I thought to my young, ignorant self. It wasn't until my FIRST semester in college I took a class that changed my whole outlook. My teacher made jokes in class, told animated stories, and did impressions throughout class that truly captured my attention. This is when I realized, it is MORE about the person teaching the subject than it is about the subject itself. This inspired me to adopt this approach in my own teaching style. I guess you can say the rest is history.
