I am a certified math and computer science teacher and an experienced SAT/ACT, math and computer science tutor who has helped students get in to several elite schools, including Yale, MIT, Upenn, Caltech and Pomona.
I have taught math and computer science for over 10 years. I was also a programmer for over 10 years. I have been tutoring students from Princeton, West Windsor-Plainsboro, South Brunswick, Freehold, Monroe, and other school districts for several years with many satisfied clients. I work with students to review and reinforce math concepts to make sure that they completely understand what they are doing. Once they are comfortable, I provide guided and independent practice so that students demonstrate mastery of the material.
I do not have a preset curriculum; I work with students to meet their individual needs and use teaching resources as appropriate.
I tutor for the SAT, ACT, and SAT II math subject test. I tutor all levels of math, including pre-algebra, algebra 1 and algebra 2, geometry, precalculus, and calculus. I also tutor Visual Basic, Java, and AP Computer Science.
I begin the tutoring by giving a student a diagnostic test to assess their strengths and weaknesses. I reteach any material needed to make sure the student knows how to do all the different types of questions that are on the tests. I particularly emphasize understanding word problems as this is a problem area for many students.
My students average an improvement in performance of two full letter grades in math with my tutoring.
My SAT and ACT students have increased their SAT scores as much 300 points, and their ACT scores have increased over 25%. I have tutored some students to 800 on the math and the reading/writing portion of their SATs. Other students have had scores of 36 on the math and science portion of the ACT and 35 overall composite scores.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
