In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Beginning with my studies as a college history major (I was selected to the collegiate history honors society), including U.S. History, I have maintained my academic interest and education in the field. At one point I tutored my sons in U.S. History when they were in middle school and high school.
While taking undergraduate courses and while pursing a law degree, I was educated and trained in Political Science and Government. As someone who worked for State government for 25 years as a high level manager and Ethics Officer, I have practical experience in civics and politics. I have done alot of training over the years and know how to keep people engaged.
