Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As an English expert, I can accurately and thoroughly explain ACT English questions. I have a comprehensive understanding of all the grammatical principles and rules the ACT tests, and I can help students precisely pinpoint what is right and wrong about particular problems and answer choices. If necessary, I utilize supplementary grammar books to help students learn or re-learn anything they have not mastered, and then I have them take many practice tests until they dramatically increase their scores.

I am absolutely confident that I can help you increase your ACT Math score in a reasonable time-frame. I am naturally talented at doing & explaining math problems. When students ask me questions, I don't just work out the problems for them but ask them many questions and lead them step-by-step to the solution. I teach students how to approach and categorize problems so that they thoroughly understand what they're actually doing.

One of my most recent students got a perfect 36 on the ACT Reading Section thanks to my methods and her diligence. I train students to quickly discern the main idea(s) of each passage and then devote most of their time on the questions which will frequently re-direct them to the passage for more in-depth analysis. As they answer questions, I coach them on how to more confidently eliminate wrong answer choices. My primary goal is not to teach so-called tricks and shortcuts but reading skills so that students ultimately become better readers, which is the surest way to guarantee high scores on any given test date.

I am especially qualified to teach ACT Science because I am naturally gifted in both science and English. In other words, I have a strong foundation in science and the ability to explain it well. The ACT Science section does not test background knowledge in science all that much but rather the ability to quickly read, analyze, and infer based on given scientific information, and therefore a good ACT teacher such as myself focuses on teaching how to effectively read and logically infer.

I have taught many students Algebra 1 over many years. For those who needed specific help with particular chapters or topics, I worked with their school textbook and materials to help them improve their grades. For those who needed a holistic and strong foundation in all of Algebra 1, I went through an entire textbook cover to cover so that they thoroughly understood & mastered every concept.

For years, I have used Algebra 2 math textbooks that schools around the country use to teach their students, such as the Prentice Hall Algebra 2 book. By going over the entire textbook cover to cover, including challenging problems, I have helped even naturally weak math students improve from C's to B's and even to A's. As long as the student is willing to put in the time & effort, I can help him/her significantly improve in Algebra 2.

I have counseled many students on how to prepare for, select, and apply to colleges through Peak Learning Center, a private academy. I have developed my own custom materials and methods for helping students gain admission into the most competitive colleges in the country, including Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, UPenn, and Cornell. I utilize a combination resources such as Collegeboard's College Search, Naviance, and the student's resume in order to provide the best, most up-to-date college counseling.

I try to make learning elementary math fun and effective. I know how important it is for young kids to develop positive experiences with math so that they appreciate and master the subject throughout their long academic career. I explain concepts clearly and easily and engage students in constant dialogue so that they remain focused and maximize retention.

I have developed a great reputation for teaching English in my community. I have helped thousands of students improve their reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills. I have helped students improve their English Literature essays, SAT essays, and College Application essays. I also help students prepare polished pieces for writing contests such as the annual Scholastic Writing competition.

I am particularly qualified to teach Geometry because I explain even the most challenging proofs in an easy, step-by-step way. Most students have little trouble with the more straightforward geometric concepts such as 30-60-90 triangles, areas, volumes, etc., but proofs, which take up a large portion of the Geometry curriculum, cause many to stumble. I have helped many students master proofs by teaching them how to visualize the step-by-step journey towards the destination. After learning from me, most students actually change the way they approach and see and solve Geometry problems.

I founded and taught at my own private learning center in which I prepared many students for standardized tests including the ISEE. I use the best possible material including actual tests sold by the ISEE company, test prep books, and my own materials to help students achieve near-perfect scores. As a Yale graduate, I have significant experience in taking & teaching standardized tests.

Although Pre-Algebra is such an easy subject for me to do & explain, for some reason, I love teaching this particular subject. Perhaps it's the age and exuberance of the students who typically learn Pre-Algebra, or perhaps it's because I love seeing anyone, regardless of age, master fundamental math concepts such as solving one-variable questions, areas, volumes, proportions, and word problems. I have taught Pre-Algebra for many years, helping countless students build a strong foundation in math, and I hope to continue doing so for years to come.

Many of my previous students have scored 800, and those who are naturally weak at math have still managed to get 700+. My method is systematic and effective. First, I begin with a diagnostic test to assess your strengths & weaknesses. Then, I customize a highly organized lesson plan that pinpoints your areas of improvement. Last, we do a battery of practice tests because as the old saying goes, practice makes perfect.

Many of my previous students have scored 700+ on the SAT Reading section. I train students to read more effectively so that they quickly identify the main points of each passage, and then I coach them to more systematically and precisely eliminate answer choices until they arrive at the single best answer. My ultimate method and goal is to make students better readers, because in the end, that's what guarantees the absolute best score.

I have helped students significantly improve their SAT Writing score, both the multiple-choice portion & the essay. For the multiple-choice portion, I make sure that students fully understand all of the grammar principles and rules that could show up on the test. Then I have them take a bunch of practice tests to improve their ability to identify and correct the grammatical mistakes. For essays, I provide a wealth of advice on how to write and provide many samples to emulate and learn from.

I founded & taught at my own private learning center in which I prepared many students for standardized tests including the SSAT. I use the best possible material including actual tests sold by the SSAT company, test prep books, and my own materials to help students achieve near-perfect scores. As a Yale graduate, I have significant experience in taking & teaching standardized tests.
