About Andrew

The famous language teacher Margarita Madrigal once said "that which is not gladly learned is often not learned at all."
My name is Andrew and I believe wholeheartedly in Ms. Madrigal's philosophy. I am a certified and tenured public school teacher who is interested in creating an enjoyable tutoring experience for children as well as adults needing help with writing, language arts, English, mathematics, and social studies.

I love teaching and tutoring and I am thankful that I enjoy going to work every day as a New Jersey public school teacher. The most fulfilling aspect of my job is using proven strategies and a data-driven approach to empower students to reach their goals.

In addition to teaching public school students, I have over 10 years of experience tutoring. I was chosen to serve in my high school's writing lab where I helped my peers develop fundamental writing skills. During college I was hired by my university's department of housing and residence life to serve as a tutor in residence where I helped college students.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Public Speaking

As a tenured public school teacher in New Jersey, I am required to speak effectively to dozens of individuals on a daily basis. I teach public speaking as a series of concrete steps. This method allows me to tailor public speaking instruction to a student's individual needs. Additionally, this strategy allows students to realize that public speaking is a skill that can be learned rather than a gift that one is innately born with. Furthermore, I have completed public speaking coursework at Seton Hall University. I also have extensive experience teaching public speaking because I have integrated it as a requirement for every course I have taught over the last four years as a public school teacher.
