I taught Math for 7 years at American History High school in Newark, NJ. I taught Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, Discrete Math, Probability and Statistics. Currently I am a Math Coach for grades 6 - 8 with Orange Public Schools, NJ. I have a BS in Biomedical Engineering with minor in Applied Mathematics and a MS in Applied Statistics from New Jersey Institute of Technology. My passion is teaching Math to those students who struggle and those who needs to be challenged.

I am highly motivated to help our youth generation and in the field of Mathematics. My high level of concentration and excellent organization skills has helped me achieve good evaluation at American History High School which reflects my diligence and commitment to successes. In my previous position I have gained excellent communication skills and my research based work has helped students improve by 32% on their HSPA test during the 2009-2010 school year. In my current position I have helped many teachers plan their lessons based on the Common Core standards and then co-taught lessons with them. I am also working as a curriculum specialist.

My teaching strategies always adhere to the following:
1. Keeping it real, I like to to teach the content through the context.
2. Fostering independence, helping students become critical thinkers through asking questions that don't have "yes" or "no" as answers.
3.Pause: I like to hear my students' opinion so I take a moment to pause and talk less by asking students to summarize what they learned.
4. Use Multimedia tools. I always play a launch video before every lesson. Use virtual math manipulative to help students visualize the mathematical concepts.
5. Exit Ticket: After every lesson students have to complete the exit ticket to check for understanding
6. Analyze Data: I always utilize the data from the exit ticket, and give independent practice to form my next lesson.
7. Request Feedback: My students' feedback matters the most to me. I like to hear from them what works for them and what does not. Again their suggestions and opinions matter the most.
