About Ian

Teaching physics and math is a passion of mine.

As a high school teacher I've found that often students will become intimidated and frustrated with these subjects, due to the pace of the class or because they aren't receiving enough personalized attention.

As a tutor at both the high school and college level, I've seen fist hand the difference that a good tutor can make on a student's understanding of a topic, and their confidence towards school. As a tutor, I can give students personalized attention to make sure they have a complete understanding of previous topics before encouraging them to move on to more difficult topics.

My goal as a tutor is to remove frustration by working with students at their own pace, and helping them learn strategies to be able to keep pace with a class.

Mathematics can be a very intimidating class for students who are struggling. Because math builds on itself, it's vital for students to have a firm understanding of topics before they can move on. As a physics teacher, I can show students how these math topics are relevant, which can contribute greatly to student understanding of the math topic.

I specialize in teaching physics, and have taught in the classroom setting, as well as individual tutoring. I can assist with AP test preparation, as well as assistance with a class. I have experience in tutoring physics on topics such as introductory mechanics, electricity and magnetism, thermodynamics, and more.

I am a very flexible person, and want to help your learner, on your terms. I'm open to negations on pricing, so feel free to contact me about scheduling and pricing.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
