In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
If you need a tutor for public speaking then contact me. I have suggestions as well as practice strategies beyond what an Internet search provides. Internet tips are helpful. Yet having a tutor is vital. I provide a practice audience and preparation strategies. Preparation strategies will vary per student based on a multiple intelligence inventory and the results will be given, evaluated, explained, and discussed during the first tutoring session. From this inventory, strategies will be determined, attempted, and honed during subsequent tutoring sessions. As a public speaker tutor I will assist with public speaking rather than public performance, i.e. acting. Stage fright for acting and public speaking nervousness are radically different and I distinguish between them. Please contact me with any questions you may have.
All activities are more natural when the content is preferred. Reading is not an exception.
At first, I meet with students and focus on acquiring and improving skills not only through areas of interest but also through learning style and multiple intelligence inventories.
For example, students may be interested in snowboarding or sewing thus providing reading opportunities within a content area of interest through the proclivities determined in the inventories.
Within tutoring sessions, not only is preferred content used for reading improvement but also academic content based on the units being taught at school and homework assigned.
