I'm a former television news reporter and anchor, now pursuing a legal education at Rutgers Law. For six years I worked in different areas of the country, covering government and politics, and the criminal justice system for local television stations. I specialize in writing broadcast news copy, but also excelled as a print journalist in college, winning an Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association award. I also have experience as a substitute teacher in Palm Beach County, FL, and I have worked as an investigator for a public defender's office.
In college I excelled writing research papers on human communication, and the sociological effects of journalism. I also played football and tutored some of my younger teammates.
I worked professionally for six years as an anchor, reporter, and producer for television stations throughout the U.S., my most recent stops including WSVN Channel 7 and NBC 6 South Florida in Miami.
During my career as a broadcast journalist I specialized in government and politics, and the criminal justice system.
I think to be a successful teacher you have to make the topics you're teaching interesting, have your pupil gain confidence in what they are learning about, and be able to relate the knowledge they are gaining to lessons they can use currently in their lives. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
