When I first started my college journey, I hadn't a clue about what I wanted to do. Over the years, I've narrowed it down to two things: I love working with people, and I love helping them learn. I've spent years working for other tutoring/test prep companies and have decided to venture out on my own.

As a graduate with a degree in Biochemistry, I have a very strong foundation in math and science. When I took my own SAT over 10 years ago, I scored a 2220 (with an 800 on Math, 700 in Reading,...

As a graduate with a degree in Biochemistry, I have a very strong foundation in math and science. When I took my own SAT over 10 years ago, I scored a 2220 (with an 800 on Math, 700 in Reading, and 720 in Writing). I have helped students some of my students get an 800 on at least one section on the SAT (as well as a 36 on at least one section in the ACT). Believe it or not, some of my students have ended up with higher official scores than me. I have experience with AP exams as well. I have helped several students score a 5 in AP Biology, Physics 1 & 2, and Calculus.

I sincerely hope that I can help you gain a better understanding of those subjects. I live in the Northern NJ Area, and I currently have availability in the evenings.

ACT English,

ACT English

I have over 5+ years of experience teaching students the rules and tricks needed to do well on the ACT English. I scored a composite score of 34 on my own ACT.
SAT Reading,

SAT Reading

While the SAT Reading and Writing sections have changed in recent years, some things have remained the same: the passages are usually long, and boring, and the questions are confusing. I can help you get the score that you want, regardless of what you are struggling with. I can teach you techniques to improve your reading speed as well as accuracy. I have over 5 years of tutoring experience with the SAT. Many of my students have scored in the high 600s, 700s, (and a few 800s as well)!

Chemistry,

Chemistry

For many students, chemistry is like a foreign language. You are expected to know new concepts like "moles", "molar mass", and "solubility". It can be very intimidating when you first learn the material. But, believe it or not, a lot of chemistry is built from a foundation of relatively simple concepts. I try to figure out if there are any gaps in my students' knowledge, and I help them understand what they are doing in their classes. I have a bachelors degree in biochemistry. I have taught students at the high school, college, and AP level of chemistry.
Precalculus,

I've scored an 800 on the SAT math section, and have helped several students score a 5 on the Calculus AP Exam.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

Whenever I tell a student that I've scored an 800 in the Math section of the SAT, their eyes kind of bug out, and they look at me like I'm a freak. What makes the math section so difficult is that students are expected have an extremely solid foundation of the math that they have taken over their high school careers. Some of the rules that they are required to know are very random (and they may not have covered that topic in their class). When I work with students I go over the most important concepts, the ones that show up the most frequently on the test, in order to maximize their score with the least amount of effort. I have had many students score in the high 600s, 700s, (and several 800s as well!).

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

The ACT math is tricky because you are expected to answer 60 questions in 60 minutes. A student is required to have a solid foundation in high school math (most notably algebra 2, trigonometry, and geometry). I try to help students by teaching them the most important concepts, the ones that are tested over and over again on the ACT. I also teach them various techniques to help work through a problem when they draw a blank. I did not take an ACT when I was in high school, however I have tutored ACT/SAT math for over 5 years.

Excellent tutor; would recommend for ACT Science and ACT Math!

Kevin helped my son prep for the Math and Science portions of the ACT. With Kevin's help, my son was able to increase his Science score by 4 points and his Math score by 2 points. My son mentioned several times that he liked working with Kevin because he was patient with him. Since my son is the one that actually worked with Kevin, I'm going to copy and paste his review below: Kevin was very helpful. He explained questions and concepts in depth and gave me strategies to make me a better test taker. He helped me improve my overall composite score, as well as my math and science scores. Although he was late to a couple of the sessions, he always gave me notice and made up for it by starting promptly. I would highly recommend him.

Daughter’s Tutor

From the first time we met Kevin, we loved him. He is very knowledgeable, never speaks down to my daughter and always has a plan when he comes. He has tutored my daughter for about 6 times and her SAT scores have improved tremendously since day 1. I highly recommend him! He’s the best!!!!!

Amazing Physics Tutor

I came into Physics not knowing what to expecf. Kevin helped me get through the course with an amazing grade in the end. He is clear, flexible, reliable and he breaks down difficult concepts in ways that are really easy to understand. He has helped me increase my confidence in solving physics problems. Thank you Kevin!:)

Great, knowledgeable, and helpful Algebra 2 tutor

Kevin is an amazing tutor! My daughter was having issues with Algebra 2. Once we brought in Kevin, she became calmer, spent less time on homework, and understood the material better since he breaks it down in an effective manner. Plus, we were able to set a regular time for a session each week, yet he was always flexible to altering it depending on my daughter’s academic demands in the class (i.e., come a different day due to a test or skip when a test was just administered). I highly recommend Kevin.

Very good!

Kevin was able to access skill level quickly and start a plan for better SAT results. He’s knowledgeable in standardized testing and is able to break it down in a way kids can comprehend and put into practice.

From Failure to Success

In an act of desperation I searched for help to pass this College Algebra II class and found Kevin. That's when I went from failure to success! His calm and well mannered approach gave me confidence that I could indeed pass this class. He has a way to lead you to the solutions that challenge, encourage and teaches you all at the same time. Kevin has a tremendous wealth of knowledge when it comes to Math and he makes it fun to learn while understanding all the rules and approaches to solving problems. He has a great wit about him and never ever appears bored or frustrated when you can't solve the problem. Instead, he guides you back through the process, emphasizing the rules, keeping you on the right track and ultimately building your confidence that you can do this!! Thank you Kevin for taking me from failure to success and make sure you keep your calendar open, Math Analytics starts in two weeks - YIKES!!!

Very good tutor

Practiced equations of Molarity and Solubility. Kevin was very helpful and has agreed to meet with my daughter frequently over the next two weeks to get her grade up befor the end of the term.

A nice and thorough tutor!

I met with Kevin twice and he helped me prepare for my College Calculus final exam. He provided me with some examples for the concepts that I didn't understand, which ultimately helped me figure everything out.

Kevin was amazing!

I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed my first lesson with Kevin. This guy should really consider becoming a professor at some point. After just 2 hours with him, I understood 3 chapters worth of material. Not to mention he's down to earth and was very patient and understanding with me. He reinforced concepts more than once and relayed the information efficiently. I have an exam tomorrow and I'm feeling more confident than I ever would have studying on my own. I look forward to future sessions with Kevin.
