As a graduate with a degree in Biochemistry, I have a very strong foundation in math and science. When I took my own SAT over 10 years ago, I scored a 2220 (with an 800 on Math, 700 in Reading, and 720 in Writing). I have helped students some of my students get an 800 on at least one section on the SAT (as well as a 36 on at least one section in the ACT). Believe it or not, some of my students have ended up with higher official scores than me. I have experience with AP exams as well. I have helped several students score a 5 in AP Biology, Physics 1 & 2, and Calculus.

I sincerely hope that I can help you gain a better understanding of those subjects. I live in the Northern NJ Area, and I currently have availability in the evenings.

I have over 10+ years of experience helping students improve their scores on the ACT. I have helped students go from scores in the scores in the low to mid 20s to the thirties. Most notably, I helped student go from a composite score of a 23 to a 33. (NOTE: This student was very diligent, and worked very hard!).
SAT Reading,

SAT Reading

While the SAT Reading and Writing sections have changed in recent years, some things have remained the same: the passages are usually long, and boring, and the questions are confusing. I can help you get the score that you want, regardless of what you are struggling with. I can teach you techniques to improve your reading speed as well as accuracy. I have over 10 years of tutoring experience with the SAT. Many of my students have scored in the high 600s, 700s, (and a few 800s as well)!

Chemistry,

Chemistry

For many students, chemistry is like a foreign language. You are expected to know new concepts like "moles", "molar mass", and "solubility". It can be very intimidating when you first learn the material. But, believe it or not, a lot of chemistry is built from a foundation of relatively simple concepts. I try to figure out if there are any gaps in my students' knowledge, and I help them understand what they are doing in their classes. I have a bachelors degree in biochemistry. I have taught students at the high school, college, and AP level of chemistry.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

When I took the SATs, I scored an 800 on the Math section. When I took AP Calc, I scored a 5 on the exam. Reading those things, you might think that I'm some sort of math genius. Nothing could be further from the truth. Truth be told, I wasn't always good at math. It didn't come naturally, and frankly, it didn't make a lot of sense. However, in high school, I was fortunate enough to have a few really enthusiastic teachers. They helped me overcome my weaknesses; and I realized "hey, this stuff actually kinda makes sense. And you know what? I'm not too bad at it..." That's my goal for my students. Whether or not you want to have a future career in math, I want to help you realize that math doesn't have to be scary, and that you CAN do it.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

Whenever I tell a student that I've scored an 800 in the Math section of the SAT, their eyes kind of bug out, and they look at me like I'm a freak. What makes the math section so difficult is that students are expected have an extremely solid foundation of the math that they have taken over their high school careers. Some of the rules that they are required to know are very random (and they may not have covered that topic in their class). When I work with students I go over the most important concepts, the ones that show up the most frequently on the test, in order to maximize their score with the least amount of effort. I have had many students score in the high 600s, 700s, (and several 800s as well!).

ACT Math,

ACT Math

The ACT math is tricky because you are expected to answer 60 questions in 60 minutes. A student is required to have a solid foundation in high school math (most notably algebra 2, trigonometry, and geometry). I try to help students by teaching them the most important concepts, the ones that are tested over and over again on the ACT. I also teach them various techniques to help work through a problem when they draw a blank.

As graduate with a degree in Biochemistry, I am fully aware of how difficult Organic Chemistry is. It is generally considered to be a gateway course, particularly for premed students. I've seen many students struggle in Ochem. Heck, I was one of those students. But, fear not. Even if you don't understand a single word in lecture, you CAN pass the class, and I can help with that. No matter your background, whether you love chemistry or hate it, I CAN help you get the grade you want.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Kevin is a great tutor. He is able to work with my daughter and help her understand concepts that she has struggled with. She says he is the first tutor that has been able to help her move forward with math concepts. And she has worked with many.

Excellent tutor.

Kevin has been just awesome to work with! He explains things in a manner that allows you to understand it quickly and well. He expresses the importance of also working through problems and material outside of tutoring to truly be successful while bringing your questions back to him. If you dont understand a full concept or chapter, he does a wonderful job with simplifying things so it can be easily understood.

Great tutor

Kevin had helped my son with his college Precalculus class last semester and has once again been a great help with Calculus this semester. He made time for my son on short notice and really helped him understand the material in preparation for his midterm exam.

Very Professional, knowledgeable teacher

We sought Kevin's help for my son who decided to take Organic Chemistry (college) in the summer and was floundering. Kevin got him up to speed in about 6 sessions. What we liked most about him was that he was very punctual, professional, targeted in what needed to get done and effectively used technology to teach. I have used tutors before and found that they waste time trying to "figure out the level of their student". Kevin figured out my son quickly, which speaks to his experience. In addition, he had the ability to teach a subject matter that he clearly knows himself.

Best tutor I’ve ever had!

Kevin has been so incredibly helpful this semester. I took Organic Chemistry over the summer which was so stressful. Kevin immediately introduced me to the course to make sure I felt comfortable and then helped reinforce each concept as much as I needed. I have excelled in this course and I truly believe Kevin had a lot to do with that. He made sure to answer my questions, ask me questions on concepts to ensure my understand, & prepared me for what’s coming up. He really knows what he’s doing with his students.

Great at helping me better understand Organic chemistry 2 concepts.

Kevin walks through organic chemistry 2 concepts with me explaining each step. He constantly pauses and asks me questions to make sure I understand. At the end of the problem, he summarizes how we got the answer multiple times to ensure I truly understand the main concepts. He's one of the best tutors I've found here on Wyzant and is great for organic chemistry 2 tutoring!

Very Patient & knowledgeable tutor!

Kevin has helped love something that I’ve always hated doing in the 1st session. He is very patient with me and makes me feel comfortable. He is very nice to work with.

Kind & Relatable Tutor Able To Break Down Concepts Like No Other!!

Kevin has been such a huge blessing for me!! I would like to tell you a little about my story & how Kevin came and saved the day. A desperate google search brought me to the WyzAnt platform looking for tutoring help about halfway through my Organic Chemistry I semester. I was struggling, overwhelmed, and literally on the verge of a mental breakdown trying to pass this class. I had an extremely difficult professor that made Organic Chemistry WAY HARDER than it needed to be. Her tests did not reflect the textbook neither did her lectures and I was discouraged after failing yet another one of her tests. I am planning on applying for PA school soon, so a “C” in Organic Chemistry was not going to cut it. I met Kevin after having other sessions with two different tutors on the WyzAnt platform. The tutors were okay, but I still didn’t understand the concept as clear as I wanted. Kevin was the third tutor I tried and the absolute best! He had the ability to breakdown the concepts so well I was amazed. The material finally started to make sense!! After our first session, I called my mother and cried tears of joy because my dream of passing this class finally seemed attainable if I had Kevin helping me through it. After countless tutoring sessions, a lot of tears, long nights, and hard work, I was able to pass my Organic Chemistry class with a “B”!!! Yes, a “B” ... it’s not an A but for my professor, a “B” is like an “A” because she grades extremely harsh. Kevin is truly a gifted tutor; he went above and beyond to show me how to use my textbook, so I wasn’t dependent on him. His goal was to help me become an independent learner/thinker; that way I was able to use my textbook on my own and figure out the concepts. I am very thankful I met Kevin, he’s such a kind spirit and all-around good person. Book a session with Kevin, you won’t regret it guys!

simplifies the hard concepts and is super patient!

Kevin helped me through a tough semester, Organic chemistry has kicked my butt. I reached out after my first exam and he’s broke down all the tough concepts and made it so much easier to understand. I definitely would be in a worse place if he didn’t help me out. He’s also been so flexible with scheduling, and was able to meet while I was traveling just so he could help me get ready for the upcoming quiz I had. So glad that I found him! If I take more chemistry classes in the future he’ll definitely be the first person I reach out too.
