My middle school son had the pleasure of working with Kevin throughout this past school year (2014-2015). Kevin was great with my son. He is very patient and extremely knowledgeable. What kept us working with Kevin throughout the school year was that he was very accommodating and he would not end the tutoring session until my son proved to him that he completely understood the lesson. We will definitely be working with Kevin again next school year!

My daughter needed help preparing for an Algebra 2 exam. Kevin was very helpful. She got a much needed "A" on the exam. We will definitely use Kevin again.

I highly recommend Kevin M. as a Math tutor. I am very pleased with how he helped my daughter readily resolve difficulties that she was having with freshman Algebra. Kevin addressed the problem areas that she was experiencing and gave fundamental instructions in a way that helped her understand Algebraic concepts. I had the opportunity to observe Kevin teach my daughter, and it was obvious that he engaged her attention throughout the sessions. Most importantly, Kevin looked forward to teaching. He requested information ahead of the time, in the form of quizzes and chapters that my daughter needed help with, and prepared strategies before the sessions in order to make tutoring time most productive. My husband (a certified English teacher) and I (a licensed counselor) both agree that Kevin has the ability to engage and teach students of all ages in the fundamentals and concepts of Mathematics.

Elementary Education:

Elementary Math
Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am qualified in Algebra 1. I am tutoring summer school students in Algebra I. In addition, I substitute teach in math classes including Algebra I in middle and high school daily and long-term. Occasionally, I set up group tutoring of students who need help in Algebra 1.

I am very good at explaining the following algebraic concepts, broken down in simple terms: rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers and polynomials. I can also explain the F.O.I.L. method of factoring and rules for exponents.

I am qualified in Algebra 2. Currently, I tutor summer school students in Algebra 2. In addition, I substitute teach math, including Algebra 2, in high school daily and long-term during the school year.

Some of my tutoring opportunities have allowed me to network and help other students that I have met. We have set up group tutoring that has worked out well.

I am very good at explaining the following algebraic concepts, broken down in simple terms:

equation of a line and their usage

slope-intercept form y=mx+b (when you know slope and the y-intercept)

point-slope y-y1=m(x-x1) when you know point

(x1,y1) and slope

standard form Ax+By=C (when you want to quickly find x and y intercepts)

slope

intercepts

quadratic equations

quadratic formula including vertex (min/max) and discriminant

radical expressions

logarithmic functions

arithmetic sequence (constant difference) and geometric sequence (constant multiple)

simple probability

I am very knowledgeable in baseball. I played baseball as a youth, and high school.

In addition, I also played college baseball.

My positions included: 1st base, outfield and pitcher. Now, I umpire Babe Ruth baseball for youth and Cal Ripken for younger kids. I also have helped coach kids when I was in college playing baseball.

Tutoring methods would be learning how to grip the ball for pitching, hitting the cut off man for outfields, learning how to turn the double play for infielders and covering bases. This is only some instruction, I will spend numerous hours with other things as well.

I consider myself to be extremely knowledgeable in basketball. I played basketball as a youth in high school and college. Next, I furthered my education and went to Burlington County College and played recreation basketball. While attending college, I helped to coach younger kids at various levels:(elementary an middle school) who wanted training and development for school basketball.

Some of the things that I would teach them include: proper techniques of dribbling, learning how to hold the basketball and proper form in shooting and shot selection.

In addition, learning how to play good defense as well as the various types of defenses, i.e. zone, 2-3 2-1-2, and man-to-man. Finally and the most important piece of information that students need to learn is how to be patient and show good sportsmanship.

They can be taught and I will model that for them. You must always strive to be positive no matter what the outcome of the game.

I am adept in teaching Elementary Math. Currently, I am tutoring students in Algebra I for summer school. In addition, I substitute teach in a variety of math classes including Elementary Math on a daily and long-term basis. Occasionally, I set up group tutoring of students who need help in Elementary Math.

I am very good at explaining the following concepts, broken down in simple terms: factors and Greatest Common Factor, multiples and Least Common Multiple, Prime and Composite numbers, Divisibility test, adding subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions, exponents and word problems.

I am qualified in teaching Geometry. Currently, I am tutoring summer school students in Geometry. Also, I substitute teach in high school daily and long-term. Occasionally, I set up group tutoring of students who need help in Geometry.

I am very good at explaining the following concepts in geometry: finding patterns, inductive reasoning, points, lines, planes, segments and angles, parallel and perpendicular lines, triangle relationships, congruent triangles, quadrilaterals, similar triangles and polygons. I am also proficient in area, surface area, and volume of multiple shapes.

I am qualified in Prealgebra. Currently, I am tutoring students in Algebra I for summer school. In addition, I substitute teach for math classes, including Prealgebra, in middle and high school daily and long-term. Occasionally, I set up group tutoring of students who need help in Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2 or Geometry.

I am very good at explaining the following algebraic concepts: ordered pairs and relations, adding integers, solving equations by multiplying and dividing, using the distance formula d/t = r and d = t x r, powers and exponents, multiplying and dividing monomials, negative exponents, solving two-step equations, solving multi-step inequalities, setting up equations as functions, slope, intercepts, using percent proportion and equations, Pythagorean Theorem, adding and subtracting polynomials, powers of monomials, and multiplying a polynomial by a monomial.

I am very knowledgeable in teaching softball. I played on a men's softball team. In addition, I umpire girls softball fastpitch and slowpitch. My positions included: 1st base, outfield and pitcher.

I also have helped coach students when I was in college.
