About Bill

I have been tutoring for a number of years now, working mostly for myself, but also for some of the "Big Boys" such as Kaplan and Chyten. I taught 7th and 8th grades for two years before doing four years as a high school teacher of English literature, writing and deep-structure reading. The later came about when my Juniors asked me why their SAT scores were not higher. This led me to do my Master's thesis on how to teach my students to read better and more thoroughly so as to be able to answer more of the passage-based questions correctly. I am happy to say the results have been excellent. All this experience led me to become a university professor at Fairleigh Dickinson in Madison, NJ, and I still serve on the faculties of several local colleges which have employed my techniques with great success.

It has been my great good fortune to be able to communicate well with my students. I know my subject thoroughly, which gives me the confidence to answer almost any question put to me in the various areas which I love to study.

I would encourage any parent and all students to try to perfect their language skills to the highest possible degree because I have found this to be one of the most important keys to preferment throughout life. The ability to think clearly is perhaps the most powerful tool a person can possess.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

Even though my main university training on both the undergraduate and graduate levels is in English and world literature, the hermeneutical principles of interpretation are largely similar. I taught as a professor for several years at Zarephath Bible Institute here in New Jersey, but was also a student there, mostly of New Testament. I have studied Biblical Greek (NT) and Old Testament Hebrew and led many Bible-study sessions over the years. In addition, I have been reading and studying Scripture for nearly forty years as one devoted to its principles.
