In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have taught grades K-8 in a self contained special education classroom for 18 years. In those years I have experienced students on all academic functioning levels. This year I have students in grades 6-8, but function on much lower grade levels. I have taught Singapore Math, literacy circles, and various reading techniques. I believe in a behavior modification approach to instruction, where students work for rewards.
